Electric resistance welding (ERW) vendors utilizes force and electrical resistance to heat the metal at the area to be welded. This technique is commonly used in the production of metal tubes and metal pipes. A low voltage, high ampere current is applied to the material. 25 MPa to 55 MPa of pressure is applied to the heated area forming the bond. The amount of current and the pressure applied depend on both the material and the thickness of the material.  Since this type of welding is using only the material already present, no additional weight is added. This helps to maintain a high strength to weight ratio.

This process is easily automated allowing for high volume manufacturing. Electric resistance welding produces very uniform welds and has minimal stock material removal. Applicable in many applications including tube manufacturing, aerospace components, automotive components and medical devices. Common materials which are ERW included different grades of steel and aluminum.  One of the largest advantages of electric resistance welds are the uniformity they exhibit. When looking for a ERW vendor, read reviews that others have written. Electric resistance vendor reviews can help you choose the best vendor for your application.
