we use statsoft's STATISTICA software in their enterprise line. its a analytical, multiuse software application that allows our engineers to connect to data repositories and interactively filter our data. the software contains analysis and report templates. We also use their desktop line which is designed for development on a single workstation which we have installed in our employee work stations. this allows spreadsheets, configurations and macros to be store on our individual user's workstation. it does still include general purpose statistical, graphical, and analytic data management capabilities as well. its a software for very math and algorithm heavy data analysis which we need. the software is fairly affordable with a one time fee - unlike some other software which requires monthly user fees. the software was easy to integrate without having to burden our IT team. our engineers find the software easy to use, intricate and capable of analyzing our complicated research data. it is one of the older statistical data analysis software on the market so it doesn't include some of the other newer applications that are included in newer software

I have used Statistica in past companies. It performs all ot the statistical analysis that the other packages do like Minitab and Statgraphics. It is not as user friendly and intuitive as Minitab and Statgrpahics but it will get the job done once you get use to it. The report generating capabilities are also not that good but you can always cut an paste into MS Word.

Strengths: Statsoft's Statistica software is a comprehensive statistical analysis software package capable of performing inference testing, reliability analysis, DOE, sample size, distribution analysis, regression, ANOVA...etc.

Needs to improve: Not very intuitive or user friendly, Minitab is much easier to use. Annual license fees are expensive.

Our sales team needed some sales forecasting done and we used Statsoft. There were significant variability in our production and needed to smooth out the highs and lows. Statsoft worked with us to and got us to an acceptable level of monthly inventory so that we are not wasting space and raw materials. Our month to month flow was streamlined and did not have any shortfalls or significant overages.

For non-finance oriented guys, the folks at Statsoft were great in helping us realistically project out sales figures with certain variables. These guys were great to work with as we set realistic sales targets for us to achieve based on the data we provided. Highly recommended.
