What is it? Significant Impact is a term we use here at Extol to describe our efforts beyond the scope of business. We are humbled and blessed that we can utilize our resources, a portion of our profits, and the willing skills and efforts of our people for those in need.
In an ongoing collaboration with Water Missions International, our most recent project is to develop a mobile water treatment center that can be instantly pressed into service in the event of a natural disaster. The mobile water treatment center is built into a rugged shipping container that can be transported via land, air, or sea, and can then be converted into a beefy trailer system that can be positioned to the site by a tow vehicle...or even animal drawn. The long term vision is to provide units around the world staged for rapid response to urgent water needs.
It is estimated that 25,000 people die per day because of a lack of clean drinking water! Most of these deaths occur in third world countries but as hurricanes Katrina and Rita demonstrated, water crises can occur close to home.
