About Us

Glebar is a world-class engineering, design and manufacturing company, producing precision grinding machines for a variety of end markets and applications.  Since its inception, Glebar has been making machines that make things. All of Glebar’s machines are made in the USA, grinding anything from medical guidewires to drumsticks. Founded in 1952 by Miner Gleason and Robert Barhorst, Glebar was established to manufacture machine tools based on the principles of centerless grinding. Located in Franklin Lakes in Northern New Jersey, our expertise in manufacturing has supplied our customers with custom solutions incorporating the latest technology, and produced equipment that provides an efficient and controlled manufacturing process. 

Over half a century in operation, Glebar has introduced grinding solutions to our customers, improving throughput by up to 30 times and vastly enhancing the quality of their products and the efficiency of their operations. Glebar's innovations have replaced alternative technologies such as lathes, OD grinders, and Blanchard grinders, with precision, high-volume production turnkey systems. We collaborate with our customers to integrate our systems into their processes, and effectively streamline their production.

Over the years, Glebar has designed and manufactured an array of machine tools for its customers: centerless grinders, OD grinders, double disc grinders, ferris wheel grinders, CNC roll rubber grinders equipped with SCARA robot feeding systems, CNC serrated steel rule grinders, dressing machines and CAM grinding systems. From basic operations to full automation, our machines are designed to meet our customers’ specifications, tolerance requirements, and other needs. See Machines page. 

Feeding and gauging systems are also designed to work within the framework of our customers’ material flow and quality requirements. Glebar has experience grinding a variety of materials, from diamond to foam, and everything in between.  

Our grinding facility also runs short- or long-term production for our customers, from start-up projects to additional production capacity.  And Glebar’s engineers and service technicians are available in-house or on-site to provide training and consultation to meet your manufacturing needs.
