I was looking to use Item's building kit system to create a custom enclosure for a piece of sensitive test equipment. I was unsure where to begin so I sent an email to customer service asking for some assistance and recommendations, but did not receive a reply. Their products are very similar to to 80/20 rail system, and since I was able to get in touch with 80/20, I went with their products.

I've used Item extrusions for creating fixtures. It's great because it is very versatile to use and easy to design around.

I recently ran into them at a trade show and discovered they have a new wood/plastic material extrusion that is incredibly light. I will consider using this next time.

Strengths: High quality material. Better tolerances than other extrusions. Other extrusion materials. Good customer services. Helpful in design suggestions.

Needs to improve: Web site is not very good.

We have contracted out Item America to help modify metal extrusion capabilities within our warehouse. This was a very detailed and specialized job that we were unable to complete inhouse. These were the perfect guys for the job. They were able to complete on time, on budget, and we are very pleased with the results. Will definitely use them again!

My experience started with the need for a linear actuator and then I learned of their metal extrusion capabilities. They are very good at what they specialize in and the items I have purchased are high quality and have lasted several years without malfunction.
