Paychex Inc

I used Paychex for seven years when I ran a consulting firm. They prepared payroll and payroll taxes and handled things like 1099s for us. They also brokered our health insurance, handled some issues with an unemployment claim, etc. Even though we were small (six people) we had a personal account rep assigned to us that handled our needs and answered our questions. Since I was a new business owner it was great to have a direct line to someone who could answer questions, and they were usually responsive.

Strengths: The price is higher than new services like Zenpayroll (now Gusto) but the personalized service is great if you have never had to deal with issues like payroll and benefits, taxes and different ways of compensating employees. The personal touch was great for handling things like hourly going to w2, adjusting compensation, and changing benefits. Also, even though they were more expensive, the personal service really paid off when it turned out a previous CPA had screwed up big time and PayChex helped us straighten that out (when the IRS came calling).

Needs to improve: Relatively expensive and a little 'old fashioned', at least when I last used them four years ago. Not everything is self-service, sometimes you need to call and ask for things like updates and certain reports.

We are a small start up with only 17 people and Paychex handles our pay roll, book keeping and financial controller fucntions. The paychecks are always accurate and most improtantly on time. They also handle all of the payroll tax and dedutcions as well. We also use them as our HR department. They also charge us very reasonable rates for all their serivces. They provide us with qualified hardworking people and take a lot of adminstrative hassels off of our hands so we can concentrate on research and development.

Strengths: Paychex provides expert accounting, book keeping and pay roll serivces to small businesses. addtionally, they can adminster 401K plans and mange and oversee all HR functions.

Needs to improve: None

We use paychex to handle our payroll for all of our employees. They help us with the business tax and the staff is very helpful during each tax season. It's also easy to manage and add/remove employees.

Strengths: Payroll is easy to set up and manage for existing and new employees. They provide all the paperwork and brochures you need to hand to new employees as well.

Needs to improve: I wish their W-2 options were online for our employees. Otherwise no issues with paychex.

we contract out our bookkeeping duties to paychex. we also use them for our payroll and business tax. it has made the process very easy and convenient for our company. although i would suggest this company for small business owners like myself, it may also work for larger corporation. their online payroll is also very convenient and user friendly

We contract Paychex to handle our payroll and haven't had any issues. We're a smaller firm but benefit from the convenience. Customer service is great and easy to reach. Any issues are addressed immediately and we can focus on what we do best. Great service.

I did not have direct interface with Paychex, however, I have not had any issues with the pay checks.

For my own private business, I use Paychex for all of my book keeping needs. They provide extremely accurate bookkeeping and great, responsive customer service. Great choice for any small business.
