very useful bench top lathe and end mill. the quality of construction is excellent. capacity is small, so don't expect to be able to put out huge parts like a standard end mill or lathe. but it is functional enough and designed well enough that you can machine small parts made of aluminum, steel, delrin pretty reasonably if you set it up right. very cheap for what it can do for you
Strengths: affordable, compact
Needs to improve: none

I have a Sherline lathe that follows me from job to job. It always finds a way to make itself useful, whether maching fixtures or prototype parts, or re-spooling braid wires. Strictly as a lathe, it can be difficult, but not impossible, to hold tight tolerances, especially in steel parts.
Strengths: Relatively inexpensive, small, table-top lathes and mills.
Needs to improve: holding tight tolerances can be challenging
Good little machines for prototyping small parts. Better for plastics and aluminum, will work with steels if you take smaller cuts. Layout of controls is slightly different than larger machines, but something you get use to. Pricing can reach that of larger machines.
Strengths: Benchtop Lathes, Mills and Manual and CNC

Ordered several of their tabletop machines. The machines are well built. We were missing a part so we contacted customer service. They were extremely helpful and had the part to us the next day. Good value for the money spent.
Strengths: Compact equipment, good quality and excellent customer service

Great Little Machines for making small parts. Perfect for the startup environment. Depending on the features you can start getting into the price range of heavier duty machines.
Strengths: Versatile Micro Mills and Lathes, both Manual and CNC
Needs to improve: Price
The Sherline lathes and mills work well enough for what they are. They allow for small part machining and prototyping, but they are light duty and not set up for making high-tolerance parts.
Strengths: Small machine tools
