Best Welding Shop Reviews

Welding vendors use a variety of techniques to fuse parts together depending on size, material, budget and strength requirements. The general categories of welding include the use of heat to melt materials, energy to fuse materials and the combination of heat and pressure. Reviews for Welding shops can be found on VendOp.

  • Electric Resistance Welding – ERW welding processes include spot and seam welding that uses heat that is generated from electrical resistance to fuse the areas of which are pressed together.
  • Electron Beam Welding – High-velocity electrons are used to join two materials. The parts melt and flow together to create a bond between the pieces. This process is performed under vacuum to prevent dissipation of the electron beam. This process is mainly used on metals but can not be performed on some types such as zinc, cadmium and magnesium nor on all non-metals.
  • High Frequency Welding - HF welding is mainly used on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and Polyurethane (PU). The process takes place by pushing the surfaces together and applying an electromagnetic field. The energy causes the surfaces to heat up without any application of outside heating. The great advantage of HF welding is speed. Since the material is heated from the inside, the fusing process can be accomplished within a few seconds.
  • Hot Gas Welding – This technique is used for welding of thermoplastic materials. A hot gas, normally air is used to melt both a rod of plastic and the parts to be welded. The melted materials fused together to produce the weld. This method only works on thermoplastics and will not work for welding thermoset materials.
  • Laser Welding – Used to join multiple metal parts together using a laser. The use of a laser allows for a small heat-affected zone with high heating and cooling rates. Laser welding is easily automated and produces high quality, accurate welds
  • Orbital Welding - A mechanized welding technique used to weld stationary tubes and pipes.
  • Ultrasonic Welding – Acoustic vibrations are applied to the desired area to weld the parts together. This method is used on plastics of dissimilar materials. The ultrasonic welding equipment can be configured to join complex injection molded thermoplastic parts. Ultrasonic welding is a very quick process and do not need a cooling time afterwards.
