Great company.
Strengths: When our department needed to acquire an AR-15 based weapon system, it looked at DPMS, Bushmaster and Colt Firearms for the contract. In the end, we chose Colt due to three factors. Quality of manufacture, price and availability. The Colt 6734 was the rifle we chose for our department, and we purchased over 150 units. We are able to mount a weapon light system and it fits the vehicle's gun mount system. On the range, the weapons perform without misfires and problems. To date, a number of our rifles have fired over 10,000 rounds without a jam or malfunction. They have proven to be a reliable patrol rifle. We also have a number of M4 fully automatic rifles in out inventory and they also perform flawlessly.
Needs to improve: An expensive purchase, but via a GSA purchasing contract, the price was competitive against DPMS and Bushmaster. A basic design issue with the AR-15 weapon system requires it to be regularly cleaned and lubricated. This is no different with out Colt rifles
