I've sent samples on a couple of occasions to Harland for coating. They do a great job. The samples I got back were in excellent shape and the coating was highly effective. Besides that I demoed a friction tester that was actually very good, but ridiculously expensive, so we chose to go in another direction. Overall, what's prevented me from working with Harland more often has always been the price factor.

Strengths: Harland develops hydrophilic coatings for tube-like products as well as friction testers to test those coatings..This is a specialized space with only a handful of companies that can perform this type of work.

Needs to improve: Harland tends to be prohibitevely expensive which can prevent your project from using their products and services.

I have used their hydrophilic coating surface friction test machine and it has worked well for its application.
Additionally, harland a few years back had initiated a project towards providing hydrophilic coating services as well. We had investigated its use and it had performed well. A strong advantage with this was their approach in pricing that did not include royalties (as some current existing vendors i believe required). i have not worked on this in a while, but if they do still provide it, i would probably go to them first to seek a hydrophilic coating to be used on my product.

Good option for catheter coating if you don't want to develop it in-house. Reliable turn around times and very few rejects/quality issues. Good sense of what it takes to qualify the process for cutomers' products.

Strengths: Their internal team can work with you to perform DOE, OQ, PQ for their coating process on your product.

Needs to improve: Once when we sent them 2 different lots of product, 1 that needed to be expedited, they mistakenly coated the lot that we did not request to be expedited first. This delayed the lot that was most important to get back to us first.

harland medical is a good source for coating plastic components. they quality is excellent with little variation from lot to lot. additionally, their staff has the technical expertise to assist with any issues that may arise on the field related to their coating. they have a decent quality system in place and understands the rigors required by regulatory agencies for medical devices.

Needs to improve: long lead times, requires periodic contact to ensure product is still on schedule

When we were designing our labs and looked into keeping everything as sterile as possible we went with Harland for their surfacing. So far so good, we have not have any issues with their surfacing, no cross contamination or other dangers that could be a bummer for our on going research. We recommend them if you want to take another step towards sterile environments.

They maintain a great quality amongst all of their product. Each order is just as good as the last. Harland is staffed with people who are very smart and knowledgeable. Who are also willing to help with any.

Needs to improve: They need a constant push to usher a product delivery is as scheduled

We;ve used Harland's FTS 6000 FRICTION TEST SYSTEM to compare the lubricity of our various surface treatments. This machine had many useful programmable parameters (Number of test cycles, Clamping force, Vertical transport velocity, etc). The tester was easily calibrated. We are happy with the equipment.

we use harland medical friction testers for coating evaluations and periodic QC of our products. the harland equipment is easy to setup and straight forward to use. we only needed to reference the user manual to program anything we needed.

Harland does coating for our product twice a month. We have had very few rejects come back from them. Very adaptive to new products that we develop and continually meet our fast moving demands of a small company.

We really like Harland Medical they are a good source for coating plastic components. The quality great and additionally, their staff has the technical expertise to assist with any issues that may occur with their coatings. All around great company.
