I've used Fort Wayne at multiple companies to supply fine wires for SS/NiTi wire braiding. They are able to maintain tight tolerances for fine wires,which is crucial when setting up production processes. They aren't immune to the infamous tangling of wires from the spool, but it's really more the nature of wire spooling. Fort Wayne can supply their spools with the tangle-free Endura bobbins, but typically we just send back tangled spools and either receive credit or re-spool the wire to fix the issue. Thus, their customer service is excellent.
I have found their pricing to be competitive, and found them willing to negotiate price for large orders.

Fort Wayne Metals Research is a great source of raw material metals, tubing and wire. We have used metal wires components the quality is excellent and durable it never rusts and keep its shines over the years. There knowledge on fabricated metal products is matched and have relied on expertise to determine the metal required to match our product requirement.The prices is fair but the reliability in their quality is worth it. Customer service was patient and walked me through the various options before placing orders.

We are a small startup and use Fort Wayne Metals as a supplier for raw metals for our products. They offer a wide selection and the staff is extremely helpful in case we need to be pointed in the right direction. The quality is fantastic and we haven't had any issues to date. Efficiency is extremely important for us as a small integrator and Fort Wayne never lets us down. Fortunately we barely make their minimums but I can see how that can be an issue going forward.

They always ships our orders on time with a low cost price. Employee are very helpful in providing us what we need to do our projects. There extensive knowledge and specialty help us decide what kind of component we really need for our work. We are satisfied working with this vendor and we recommend it to other company out there.

In our lab, Fort Waynes provides us fine grade medical wire. Their expertise lies in stainless steel, titanium and titanium alloys and specialty alloys such as Nitinol. Their production facilities are geared specifically for producing medical grade wire and cable. They also offers us a large variety of cleaning processes that fit our needs. And then when were looking for special shapes, end welds or beads, surprisingly, their custom assembly operation accommodated virtually every application.

I have used Ft. Wayne Metals for production and prototype product for 20 years. Each time, the work closely with my companies to ensure that they fully understand the specs and concerns with any custom or off-the-shelf material. Their customer service group also does a great job coordinating rush orders with their factory personnel.

Strengths: Excellent R&D group that will work with customers (regardless of size) to tailor a product to their needs

Wayne metals research has been a provider of ss and niti micro tubes for us. They produce a high quality product. We have been using them for a number of years and have never had an issue with yields even when ordering in large volumes. Their tolerances are very tight and it shows as our yields are high on our end as well. Pricing varies depending on your lot size.

I have ordered anything from SS and nitinol wire to DFT (drawn filled tubing) from Fort Wayne. They are very knowledgeable and provide quality product. Customer service is good and always willing to get the parts you need in a timely manner. Pricing can be better but you can negotiate and get price breaks at certain quantities. Good source for wire, tubing and braided material.

FWM has some incredibly innovative technologies in wires and cable assemblies. The offerings of these quite unique products gives me as an engineer an entirely huge window of possibilities to make my product work functionally even more efficiently. They also provide the standard type wires (nitinol, precious metals, PTFE coated, etc) and other vast array of products (tubing, centerless grinding, etc).

We contracted Fort Wayne Metals for their wide selection of raw materials, wire and tubing. They were extremely accommodating for our need of custom wires. It was pricier but of high quality. Great customer service. They were knowledgeable and we were impressed by their dedication to ensure our satisfaction. Quick turnaround and accurate quotes is why we will continue to work with them.

fort wayne has been the primary wire supplier at 3 companies i’ve worked. they can hold tight tolerances, which have been key to maintaining yields and delivering predictable and consistent performing product in the field. they offer generous price breaks for large orders, but are very costly for small orders.

Fort Wayne is a great source for raw material metals. We have sourced them four our consumer electronics line. The products are of high quality and very durable. The bad side is that they do require a minimum purchase. We are a big enough company that is did not matter in our negotiations, but it could affect smaller companies. Overall great company with good customer service.

Great service, use them for small diameter SS wires and nintol wires. Helpful staff that provides recommendations as well as helping to understand application purposes for different tensile strengths.

Fort Wayne is my first call when the need for nitinol or stainless fine wire arises. I have braided a ton their nitinol wire (down to .001" round or .0007"x.003") and found it to be extremely consistent in both dimension and Af temperature.

Needs to improve: they are the best, so if you need something custom their lead times can get a little long.

The have wide selection of electrical wire, raw material meta and tubing. Before we contract out the service, we placed quite a few order from them and they didn't let us down. If you don't know what you want, customer service is always there to help with a phone call away. They can expedite shipment with decent extra shipping fee.

I use Fort Wayne Metals to supply stainless steel wire and nitinol wire. The quality is always great. They can meet critical dimensions and hold very tight tolerances. The staff is very knowledgeable and always willing to help. My only issue is the long leads times. Other than that, they are an exceptional vendor.

I've ordered nitinol and stainless steel wire of various sizes. They are able to custom draw wire to your exact specifications. They can also provide stainless steel in a variety of hardnesses. I was pleased with the wire I've recieved from them.

Needs to improve: They are expensive and have slow turnaround.
