Minitab Inc.

Minitab is the standard software used by quality engineers to run their statistical analyses. It goes beyond the abilities of microsoft excel and makes running tests easier, ANOVA, t-tests, confidence reliability intervals, etc. I did not learn Minitab in undergraduate and was first exposed to it at my first medical device company as a quality engineer and must say that it has a quick learning curve. I have contacted minicab a couple of times on questions I had regarding some of the functions and they have been quick to respond and have even called me a couple times to further help my understanding. They offer excellent tutorial classes as well. Today, Minitab is installed on all of our computers for not just our quality engineers, but the rest of the engineering team as it is a valuable asset for everybody to use.

I have been using MiniTab for the last 12 years and it is by far the most powerful statistical software on the market. I use it for inference testing, smaple size determination, DOE, reliability, SPC, gauge R&R and graphing. I do not know I how would be able to do my job wiothout it.

Strengths: MiniTab makes a very powerful statitical analysis software that can handle extremely complex analysis and is very user friendly. Strengths: Inference testing, regression, quality control, DOE, reliability, grahing.

Needs to improve: Very expensive and requires statistical knowledge to use it effectively

we are a very data heavy company and we use minitab to analyze our data to improve our product quality. we speficially use their Minitab 17 software. any upgrades there is to the software is automatically loaded remotely. their newest update has made an noticeable difference in the speed in which our data is analyzed and interpreted. by using minitab, it has really saved our statisticians time and made their work more efficient

Minitab offers much more serious analytical statistical tools than Excel can generally offer (although you can probably spend hours trying to program your own scripts into it...). It is very easy to use and put together various statistical analysis for your problem at hand (t-test, transformations, etc. etc etc). It is definitely a software package any engineer should be adept at to better understand their tests results.

Analytics is key in today's business world and Minitab is excellent at compiling raw data into very focused metrics we can use to help improve our protocols and systems. I think every firm once you hit capacity after starting up should hire Minitab to analyze your systems and processes. A great company to work with and I am confident they will become a go to vendor for many companies out there.

Highly recommend this statistical tool

Strengths: I have been using this statistical tool for many years, and it has been a privilege using this software. It can do all sorts of modeling and statistical analysis that I Excel can perhaps not handle it.

Excellent training seminars to help audience learn this software.

Needs to improve: The fonts in the graphical representation cannot be changed like in other conventional softwares like Microsoft Word and Excel.

My company uses this software daily to analyze R&D data. It offers a variety of statistical analysis options to help determine optimal processes and ensure we are looking at data correctly. The customer service was great in looking into purchasing Quality Training and MiniTab training services for MinitTab 17. I like that their software is very intuitive.

We used Minitab to determine our upper and lower confidence limits for a specific product specification. Minitab allowed us to increase our throughput by increasing production yields

Strengths: Minitab offers more statistical methods to approach any problem, and its computational accuracy is more reliable than Excel. It is also much easier to use Minitab for most statistical analyses than it is to use Excel.

a great and easy to use stat software for engineers and various practical stats. need to know how to use properly to be careful of being misled on stat output if you are not careful or sure how to run the stats properly.

I can't imagine doing any statistical analysis without this software. Every test report involves graphs and analysis provided by minitab. Fortunately it was taught in school, so the menus seem natural and everything is easy to find. If not, there are great tutorials online.

I use Minitab for all my statistical needs. From DOE design to capability analysis, T test, F test, and distribution fitting, MInitab does it all

Use MiniTab for any statistical analysis more complex than calculating confidence limits. Excellent resource for performing data transformations on those non-normal data sets!

Overall I like Minitab for doing statistics. There are no major issues, but some of the feature sets could be expanded (graphics).

I’ve used Minitab to put together DOEs, analyze cpK, and perform data transformations. Their help guide is useful when trying to teach yourself a new statistical method.
