You might think all drills would be the same. That is not the case. There are many different variable that really affect how well a drill is able to do its simple job of making a hole. Flute design, number of flutes, tip design, material, flute depth to name a few.

We really didn't know what we were doing when we first reached out to NG Instruments. They basically held our hand throughout the entire process. They sent us over 10 different design configurations to try out and it took a few more iterations to get it right. Just when we thought we had it, we had an issue with some minor failures under fatigue. One thing we didn't look into was different types of steel to use for the drill. We had to upgrade the metal but once that was done, we had a drill that was easy to start a hole and then basically drilled the hole through the bone itself with just easy turns.

I thought this was going to be a simple, off the shelf product but turned into a custom drill that out performed anything we could have thought.

Strengths: Great customer service and very responsive team. Able to really help you get the product you are looking for.

Needs to improve: Some of the drills were sent without tip protectors and we saw some damage. We had to request each one to have a tip protector. While it cost a bit more to ship this way, every drill was perfect upon delivery.
