Photometrics is a company that specializes in material analysis via microscopy. We produce endovascular stents by trade and we have had issues with biocompatibility testing and delivery force of our stents through introducer catheters and have had to investigate the reason why. Photometrics has been able to provide us some of the answers with the tools that they have, specifically SEM analysis to get a close up view of how our surface treatment is affecting the actually surface. So far we have been pleased with the service they have provided. They are tough to fit a schedule in when you are in a bind but once they have you fitted in you have all of their attention to yourself and you get all your questions answered and a nice report print out of images and other results. Pricing is fair but you have to consider that it is a unique service too. Great company and will continue to business with them.
Strengths: SEM analysis, microscopy, customer service, material analysis
Needs to improve: None
The staff is very easy to talk to. They don't try and tell you what you want to hear but actually takes the time to understand your product, the issue you are having, and what it is you are trying to learn and will provide you with some recommendations on which analysis would be best to use, but not try to push you.
Strengths: I have used Photometrics in the past when we sent some samples for SEM and TGA analysis. They are located in Southern California and have a very knowledgeable staff that takes the time to understand your needs and provide you with a detailed report that is easy to understand and interpret.
Needs to improve: The time it takes to get results takes a about 2-3 days which is not too bad but that being the only negative thing I would have to say about them.
I've used photometrics a number of times for sem services. Jon is a soft spoken fellow but so helpful when you've clued him in on what you are looking for. On a side note, do make sure that they are paid on time! I have personally seen the list of vendors who must pay by cash or check ahead of time taped to the receptionist's desk because of poor payment track record.
Strengths: Sem, customer service, in house expertise
Needs to improve: I haven't experienced any negatives in the 4 years I worked with them
High quality products with an expert team behind them. We use Photometrics CCD and EMCCD cameras in our R&D division and couldn't be happier with the results. Customer service is fantastic and easy to reach should any issues arise. Their reps are extremely knowledgeable and always willing to help point us in the right direction if we're debating between two versions. Products are reliable with realistic lead times. Will continue to use as their track records speaks for itself.
Strengths: service quality, efficiency, turnaround time and expert staff
Needs to improve: pricing

Strengths: The staff is very knowledgeable and willing to work with you on pretty much any project. Have used them for years.
Needs to improve: They are very busy and can be difficult to schedule an appointment in a rush.
They have helped out on a moments notice with both SEM and cross sectional analysis. Very small parts and it has never been a problem. Will continue to do business for as long as imaging needs are in place.
