ProtoCafe

Protocafe is like starbucks, their baristas can mix and match, pretty much create anything you want from thought to drink in your hand. We were privileged enough to experience this process. We came to them with an idea for a product. A consumer educational toy for preschoolers. Something that has to be brightly colored and durable. They understood our needs and produced something magical. It was exactly like we asked for. After prototype production was finished they gave us some advice on how to make the product better and easier to manufacture. Although we appreciated on how to make the product better, we valued their production advice more. Overall great experience.

Quick turn around on our requests. This is very helpful in a very past-paced environment.

Strengths: I've only been working with Prototype for 3 months now, but I have since been impressed by their speed at quoting and overall leadtime. The individuals that I've worked with are very professional and on top of my requirements. I recommend ProtoCafe to anyone who needs quick prototype work.

Needs to improve: I would probably say that they can work on competitiveness - meaning being ahead and volunteering their ideas or thoughts to clients, I.e. What would work better in a lower cost but same quality.

We've used ProtoCafe now for the better part of 2 years for their laser printing services. Overall they've been a good company to partner with. They've been good at delivering as promised and on time. Their printing services on our product looks very professional which is why we keep coming back to them. They have other offerings that we've thought about using, but have not pulled the trigger on, but as soon as we do they'll be at the top of companies we'll consider.

Always get a quick response and never had an issue meeting the timeline. Be sure to specify how you want your item printed though, or else the default is always the quickest job time rather than the orientation best for your parts.

Strengths: They offer quick turnaround and are also one of the few vendors on the peninsula who offer Projet for prototyping items with tight tolerances.

Needs to improve: Expensive. Often 2-3 times more than the major vendors (3D systems, etc).

We needed to test a concept and decided to have a Protocafe make us a rapid prototype. The part came out within our tolerance we needed and the turnaround was fast. They are very helpful in teaching us about materials to use.

Need to show a few concepts to our marketing group. Protocafe was able to prototype high resolution parts for show and tell. Quality parts were made using superfine resolution of the equipment (0.0005"). They offer quick service and professional service.

Protocafe is a great vendor to work with. They provide great assistance and support when you need a rapid prototypes.

good quality parts. the parts were turned pretty quickly and met our specs to quickly evaluate and feel out. good response from the staff and very helpful

Used Protocafe for SLA 3D molding. They were able to provide several concepts for our Marketing group. Fast turnaround and competitively priced. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Good experience.
