I had two western digital external drives in my home office where i do an extensive amount of CAD work. I used these devices both as back up and primary storage. They both failed within 18 months of use, So much data lost.

Strengths: No Strengths

Needs to improve: unreliable

Our company runs a large IT organization so we have lots of experience with Western Digital products and putting them through very harsh conditions. Of course many of our laptop and desktop computers are equipped with their products but I think they shine in our custom built security DVR machines. These machines are designed to run 24/7 and are constantly recording dense video feeds from security cams in our buildings. These machines rarely, if ever, have a problem, a testament to the quality of WD products. The laptop hard drives are less reliable but people abuse their computers so that's not a fair test.

Strengths: Reliable products from a leader in the industry

Needs to improve: At times quality control can be an issue. Once experienced a bad batch of HDD.

These are exceptional drives and we plan ton use them as long as we can. We typically swap out hard drives every 2 years and yet haven't had any issues. Customer service is excellent in dealing with RMA's, support, and any other issues.

Strengths: As a technology company, we rely heavily on our computers. We are proud to have Western Digital hard drives in all our systems. They are reliable and workhorses for our company. The have withstood the test of time and hardly ever go bad.

Needs to improve: Prices aren't cheap.

We use Western Digital hard drives on some of our products and we hardly ever have any issues with them. They never fail at test and work well.

Strengths: They make great quality and reliable hard drives.

Needs to improve: I believe the price is a little too high but at the same time you're getting good product.

Western Digital was always my first choice when it comes to storage device but when I started to encounter HD issues, crashes and malfunctions, I don't feel comfortable anymore with this brand. Now I also look at other brands like Seagate, Toshiba, and Samsung.

Needs to improve: Durability, Price

We have had good luck with western digital for hard drives storing business data. Their products come in many high capacity formats and are reasonably priced.

I have used a western digital portable hard drive for years to backup important information on my computer. it has yet to let me down.

I used to use Seagate until my 1TB external hard drive broke and the data was irrecoverable. WD has been my goto now.
