WuXi Apptec

I have not had positive experiences thus far. They are an approved (qualified) vendor for my small company and are frequently used for bioburden testing. There is a problem with communication internally at WuXi Apptec since WuXi purchased Apptec a few years back. My sales rep is in one state, my test facility in another and the main office in MN. Very frequently testing is held up for weeks and then an email will make its way to me saying that the Apptec test labs were unsure what to do with the samples. I then send them a copy of the approved PO with the test codes and method that they sent to me. I get a few general apologies. The sales reps care about their customers and provide good detailed quotes, but the testing facilities have poor customer service skills and sour the experience. I would probably not use Apptec for newer methods, only routine testing that they are deeply familiar with.

Needs to improve: Customer Service after the PO is placed Left hand doesn't often know what the right hand is doing. You request a quote from a sales rep who talks to a team that generates the quote, but the testing group in another location gets the samples and doesn't understand what they are suppose to do even though its identified in the quote and there is a lot...A LOT of red tape to get through before they will test your samples.

Terrible experience. It's a great place to go if you want to have FDA reject your testing while simultaneously having Wuxi treat you like garbage even though they are the ones messing up. Top down mistreatment of clients, push unneeded evaluations, not up to date with FDA requirements, and the most unprofessional interactions I've had in my career. Timelines were easily triple other test labs once quotes and final reports are factored in. Avoid.

Our firm outsources our biocompatibility and toxicology testingy needs to Apptec and have been thoroughly impressed with the results. Customer service is excellent as their team has expert knowledge of the industry, processes and protocols. They are professional, thorough and always make themselves available to answer our questions. Quality team that yields an insightful work product that gives us choices on how best to proceed. Will contract again.

We use AppTec along with a couple other companies for Bio-Compatibility testing. They do a fine job with the testing and make sure they know exactly what is being tested and and what we were looking for and then selecting the correct standard/protocol

Strengths: Quick turn and good understanding of test protocols/standards

Needs to improve: A little slow getting the test setup and started

Wuxi had the best price for testing and was very knowledgeable about the testing we needed. They owned and authored the test protocols and reports for our entire scope of testing.

Strengths: Executed all our biocompatibility requirements testing per ISO 10993

Needs to improve: Testing took a few weeks longer then quoted

They allowed me to help them prepare test samples at their lab to ensure they were tested correctly. They were very cooperative. I also reviewed their relevant SOPs and test protocols prior to testing.

Strengths: They perform all biocompatibility testing including animal testing in their MN facility.

They are punctual and always seem to start testing as soon as they receive samples.

They have a vast array of biocompatibility tests that will satisfy class 1, 2, 3, or permanent implant requirements. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful as well.
