I have used Heraeus for drawn wire. Heraeus supplies metal that is inert and biocompatible. The sales engineers are very helpful and are always eager to do business with us. They do go the extra mile to meet with us and to figure out what they can provide us. They are very capable and extremely cooperative. Having said this, Heraeus does also have their share of issues. They over commit and over promise on delivery dates. There have been many times when they promised to delivery material to us and have come in days or even weeks late. You do have to follow-up on your order status just to remind them that the promised delivery date is fast approaching.
Strengths: Drawn wire, sales staff (reps), contract manufacturing
Needs to improve: Does not meet promised delivery dates, expensive
Made millions of dollars of value added product for prior company, and have helped develop processes to meet difficult material specifications at my new company.
Strengths: Very good at learning processes so that they can provide value added service to the medical wire they supply (such a winding to high tolerances)
Needs to improve: Physical access to their site for inspection and training is difficult due to their highly confidential equipment and processing for other customers

We tried using Heraeus for supplying precious metal micro coils and to test their precision component manufacturing. Both were of excellent quality, consistently holding to tight tolerances better than the competition. If cost was not an issue, I would have preferred use of them, but their lead times for supply and price were the turning points to pursuing other vendors.

We use heraeus for coil making besides precious metal. They are reliable and affordable manufacturer. We have different specs and sizes for manufacturing build and they have no problem making it. A sale rep often stop by the company to address the issue or any concerns or questions we have with Heraeus.
Strengths: Good quality coil manufacturer. Good pricing. good customer service.
Needs to improve: None
Heraeus Medical Components offers a large selection of raw material and finished devices / components to the medical device industry. They have a expansive number of material processing service available as well. I have found their quality to be top notch but they can be on the expensive side.

Supplier of our precious metal Platinum wire for mfg of micro coils for interventional Neurology use. We purchase the coils for reinforcement and support of our Catherters and guidewires access devices and delivery systems for micro coils.

Needs to improve: Long lead times
We order to this vendor before for our medical device. Good costumer service and good suplier we never run any issues with them
