3d modeling at it's finest.

I was the cad administrator for a large company with over 200 users. The software is awesome and in general they have made using it easier. Great tool for the mechanical folks. In order to use their software correctly and most efficient, you can not really use their products right out of the box. Customization will cost you, but worth the money spent.

If you use PTC Creo/Wildfire (3d modeling package) you really need to use a PDM system as well.

Not as friendly to use as Solidworks.

Strengths: 3d solid modeling. Data Management. Sheetmetal design. Analysis. Expertise in 3d modeling and data management. Excellent AE and customer support.

Needs to improve: Expensive. Maintenance fees. When they make huge changes to the software we need to retrain all our users. We had software go to end of life.

A powerful source to assess product compliance, performance and risk to insure FDA regulations.

Strengths: My company use PTC as a solution for compliance in Medical Device Design & Development/ Document Control. For me I use PTC Windchill primarily for my day to day activities such as; pulling Procedures/ Drawings, Training Materials, etc... for test and calibrating M&TE. Most of the time I am able to find what I am looking for but I am sure it's a huge learning curve for me if I were to start learning all the bell and whistle. The system has many capabilities in the areas of product information and content. I am sure it's a major plus for anyone to learn the system as it is one of the primary system that is widely use in the medical field.

Needs to improve: None at this point

Very pleased with the results with PTC. We have found that outsourcing the 3D modeling to a high quality group like PTC has saved us tremendous resources, time, and money in the long run. Their Creo software is very easy to use, and allows us to modify some of our preliminary 3D modeling for prototypes. Really like the software they have and will continue to use them for all our 3D modeling services. Highly recommended especially for those that may not have the resources or expertise in this area.

Strengths: High quality and detailed 3D modeling, data management and analytics.

Needs to improve: None.

Steep learning curve but very capable

I have used Creo and Windchill and found them to be very powerful tools. Use of both is not as intuitive as other similar software packages. Creo requires a lot of understanding of when to use the right and left mouse buttons but once you get the nuances down, the program becomes a joy to use. Surface modeling is powerful and straight forward in Creo and Copy Geometry functions allow for easy sharing of geometry in multiple parts while maintaining links.

Strengths: Very powerful 3d modeling and data management packages

Needs to improve: Steep learning curve
