Tinius Olsen Testing Machine

We have Tinius testing equipment on the production floor. We use the Model H1K-S UTM force tester for destructive testing. The machine was easy to install, validate and implement. The software is very user friendly, I like it much better than Instron's Blue Hill. The only issue we have is the annual calibration which can be very costly. On a few occasions, we needed an emergency calibration at it was very costly to get them out in 24 hours.

Strengths: High quality materials testing machine for a wide variety of tests including compression, tension, impact, hardness, torsion. They have excellent customer service and sales support and the equipment is very reasonably priced with the respect to their competitors.

Needs to improve: Calibration services are expensive and usually has long lead times unless you by a very high expedite fee.

As the complexity of our product increased we found ourselves with the need to do more complex electrical testing. Their tools for electronic testing have been very good, high quality products that are pretty simple to become proficient in. Employees like to use the tools as it makes their job easier, makes them more efficient and cuts down on quality control issues down the line. Their staff was able to do a quick job of testing our systems comprehensively and re-calibrating to ensure maximum production and usage. The pricing was also very fair. Highly recommended.

We purchase a used Olsen testing machine from a company. It is a kind of old but good tester for stiffness testing which we don't get a good result with instron or merlin. We get what we want from it since we got a good deal for it. I would recommend to use Olsen for stiffness testing.

Have used their tensile testing equipment to test strength of adhesive bonds. They get the job done for straightforward tensile testing. They're machines don't offer as many easy to use features for programing a custom test sequence like Instrons. They also lack a bit of quality as compared to other machines available.

We have older units refurbished by them l. Good machines fro medical device stiffness testing. Customer service was helpful and kept us well informed on the status of our order. Easy to deal with. The only thing is lead time long for replacement parts order.

I have used Tinius Olsen Testing equipment throughout my career. They offer a large selection of equipment for tensile, compressive, impact, melt flow, moisture, and hardness testing. Everything I have used has been reliable and easy to operate.

Used them in R&D environment for measurement and testing of small catheters in bends. Very precise - cannot do this testing on an Instron or MTS for sure.
