The knowledgeable staff are very familiar with their product line and real-world applications.
Strengths: They are quick at getting back to you with quotes.
They can set you up with the manufacturer reps if you have in-depth technical questions.

I like how they include pictures and their part descriptions.
Strengths: -They have a huge inventory of electrical parts

The local reps are accessible and easy to talk with. They are also good at setting you up with manufacturer reps, if you have technical questions or custom applications.
Strengths: - They have one of the best search filtering features on their website
- Many parts are in stock
- They have good relations with their manufacturers' reps
Needs to improve: - They aren't the cheapest all around, but will have the best vendor pricing with some manufacturers.

We've had good luck dealing with Allied. They tend to have certain brands of parts cheaper and more available than others. Be sure to get in touch with the local rep if you need help tracking down a particular item.
Strengths: - Tons of products in stock
- Lots of distribution centers and rep offices around the country
- Straight forward pricing for bulk and quantity items
- Good product information and direct links to the manufacturers' datasheets
Needs to improve: - The search refining is horrible

Amazingly fast delivery, if you happen to be near one of their distribution centers.
Strengths: - A very well organized catalog.
- Great search engine for finding parts and similar parts
- Great visuals for almost everything they sell
Needs to improve: - Shipping costs are not apparent during checkout - Proprietary McMaster catalog numbers, ie: you won't be able to search using a manufacturer's part number - You don't always know who the manufacturer of the item until received. (I guess a customer service agent can tell you, but this type of information is common among other e-vendors.)
