Microfabrica is an advanced technology company with a proprietary, additive manufacturing process that yields complex metal structures and assemblies at a scale not previously possible. The company's process, MICA Freeform, takes principles from 3D printing and bridges them to wafer-scale semiconductor production concepts that enable extreme precision at production volumes. Microfabrica's technology is like most additive manufacturing processes in that it builds 3D objects in layers directly from a digital model; it also allows for part complexity and manufacturing flexibility. However, unlike MICA Freeform, no 3D printing technologies have leveraged semiconductor manufacturing methods to achieve our high precision at production volumes.
Microfabrica's technology appeals to demanding high tech industries, such as medical device, semiconductor test and aerospace, that can leverage the potential of sophisticated structures at a sub-millimeter scale. MICA Freeform is best for applications where the drive to miniaturization has been limited by conventional manufacturing technologies.

Microfabrica utilizes an additive manufacturing process to produce extremely small metal parts in large volumes on a wafer. The parts I have received from them have been very consistent and were of scales not easily manufactured by normal means. The only down side is the high develop cost during feasibility. The high output, however, makes their technology ideally suited for high volume runs.

Needs to improve: Very high develop cost but low production cost
The metal components we purchase are for our Release system box for micro coils. The quality is tops and rarely do we hold up MFG for NC's from this company. The part is put into a kit for boxes to be built. We use this company for prototypes of new parts for new design concepts of our box.

Needs to improve: Long set up times and expensive for custom work
