Radio Shack

Usually our local store is a great supply resource, but they seem to be more the exception then the norm. I imagine, because we have a good business relationship with our primary store, this works out well, but I have not seen this at other stores we have needed to use. The supply and products available vary widely from store to store. Overall, the meet our needs but nothing that knocks your socks off.

Strengths: Radio Shack is great because of the franchise model and the large retail presence in local areas. If you cannot find what you want on the web or your timelines don't allow for web purchases, a local Radio Shack can often meet your needs. Depending on which store you are using, they can have a huge variety of electrical parts and accessories. They have a good catalog as a reference.

Needs to improve: Which store you go to can be make or break for what you are looking for. When we need last minute electrical supplies for our vehicle radio installations, we have a local store which is well stocked. This is not necessarily the case for all stores. Some have a really limited inventory for electrical component supply. There has been a change in how the stores work from the past. I am not sure if this business model can survive in the long run.

Overall Radio Shack is only a shadow of what it once was. Simply put, this isn't your Dad's radio shack anymore.

Strengths: Radio Shack locations are convenient and can be found throughout the country.

Needs to improve: Radio Shack used to provide a limited supply of electronic components (ie; resistors, capacitors, wires, connectors, electrical enclosures) but have long since changed their focus to more consumer electronics. This would be fine, only their high prices can't compete with Fry's, Best Buy or even Target or Wal-Mart. To be honest, I rarely go to Radio Shack these days. I might go if I'm desperate for a cell phone charger or something like that, otherwise I bypass them all together.

definitely not the radio shack of the past...seems like raw material components get less and less each year and more and more cell phones and other consumer goods are displayed.
pretty useless to me as an engineer, end up going to Fry's if i'm in a crunch for immediate needs.
i don't think i can build a radio from scratch at radio shack these days....the 80s obviously took all the parts back.....

Strengths: lots around.

they had a good commercial during the super bowl.

Needs to improve: they cell phones, not much else......maybe headphones also......

not really a good place to go as you would imagine to get parts for a radio.... more of a cell phone store now. staff is helpful, probably bc they are bored.... anyways, i've recently given up coming here when i need electronics or A/V parts and just head to fry's or jameco or if you can wait, order online at monoprice or amazon for your A/V wires or a plethora of vendors for your electronics parts.

Needs to improve: minimal inventory of actual electronic components

We have purchased some electronic peripherals through Radio Shack. While the in-store collection is great and you can find most things that you need or want in store, the prices at Radio Shack are extremely high, and much better cheaper options can easily be found online or at different stores. Also the customer service at Radio Shack is mediocre to say the best, it is not terrible, but not good either. I do not recommend them, unless you wish to pay the high price.

Strengths: Radio Shack is a supplier of electronic goods, most stores have a excellent and large selection in store

I have gone into Radio Shack many times and given the person helping me an idea of what I'm trying to accomplish. The end result has been more than pleasing. This place is a prime example of a place you walk into knowing you need something, but often thinking of the wrong product. The staff is usually able to steer you in the right direction.

Strengths: Radio Shack has been the go to store for electronic components for the last 30 years. Even with the rise of the internet, it has always been a place you can walk into and say "I need this." More often than not I have walked out with the part I needed or something I didn't know what I would need to get what I want done. Customer service has always been great.

Needs to improve: Store sizes are dwindling in size and are becoming more sparse. For the most part though, no complaints.

My experience with RadioShack has been one with purpose. I don't normally go into this store but if i need to pick up a battery for a electronic device or a cable for a computer I know they will have it. Service is fast and friendly.

Strengths: Radio Shack has a variety of parts that you need if you're in a bind. Gone are the days where the products from this company were terrible. They've recently rebranded themselves and they carry the same brands as their top competitors. Customer service is a nice surprise. Stores are clean and easy to find. Website is organized properly and easy to navigate.

Needs to improve: The previous stigma of "radio shack" may hinder their image but if anyone has stepped into one recently, they can instantly realize its not the same store.

radio shack doesn't really provide much use for me that i can't find at a fry's.

I've used Radio Shack for a variety of needs, mainly for electronics. Everytime I go there for a certain component, it's a 50/50 chance they'll have what I'm looking for. But I keep going back, when I need to, because (1) their prices are decent, and (2) I'd rather check there first then to have to order parts online and play the waiting game. Customer service is usually pretty good. Friendly most of the time.

Strengths: Big chain. Many stores in the area.

Needs to improve: Limited on certain types of electronic components such as resistors, diodes, transistors and capacitors. They don't always have exactly what you're looking for.

Here you get the real gold star treatment, service at a level that one usually doesn't associate with Radio Shack. I'm glad it's the one closest to my work, because while at work is when I usually think of some random cable or adapter that I'm lacking. These guys can figure out exactly what I want, even from my most tedious and babbling descriptions, and then they also know exactly where it's located.

Strengths: Customer service was very nice. I received an affordable product with a broad range to choose from. It's not overcrowded at all and it's pretty common. You could probably find one within a few mile from you.

Needs to improve: None

This company Radio Shack is our supplier of phone for office and business use and supplier of electrical parts and accessories that you need. They had wide selection of products and informative website that are sure helpful. It really helps us a lot that they provide quality products that are easy to use and last long. The shipment is fast with the cheap price that gives affordable prices your company will love this company! I highly recommend this for your company!

My previous company I worked for was in need of a DVI cable for our home theater projector and they didn't have much of a selection to choose from.

Strengths: Plenty of locations

Needs to improve: Doesn't keep up with the latest technology of products and they are overpriced

Sometimes our firm doesn't have the luxury of waiting for procurement to order a customized solution or sort through existing stock to find a necessary part. Oftentimes, we truck over to the local Radio shack and are able to find the needed components. We're paying retail but the time savings in invaluable. Customer service isn't as technical but hey if the part is there, and gets the job done, so be it. Will continue to source from as a back up or if we're in time crunch.

They had an inexpensive motor that fit my application perfectly. However, both in-store help and phone-in customer service knew nothing of the product, or how it works.

Strengths: Variety of small motor components.

Needs to improve: People who work there know nothing of the products they sell.

I use Radio Shack often for electrical components like led's, ICs, and switches, solder, flux, wire and test equipment. They have many locations and because the store is so small, I can get in and out in a hurry. Their prices are usually higher than the internet but it is convenient to be able to go into a store and get the items right away.

Strengths: Radio Shack sells electrical components and audio equipment, video systems as well as soldering irons, solder, flux and digital multimeters.

Needs to improve: Shelves are not always well stocked

My office has been getting our cables from radio shack for years now. Any time we have a question from an employee they help us right away. One experience I can recall was when I went in to get a bulk order of Hdmi cables. They didn't have the amount I needed so the employee ordered them over the phone and shipped straight to my work free of cost. I would recommend to any business!

Strengths: Great service and range of product!

Needs to improve: Not to many locations!! Pricing can be high.

Good for when you are in a bind. Look elsewhere (Fry's Electronics, Micro Center, or Online retailers) for better prices and selection.

Strengths: Good selection of raw electrical components.

Needs to improve: As time has gone, radio shack has become less of a specialty store and more of a general consumer store. I come here if there are no other stores around like (fry's or micro center) and I am in an absolute bind to find something to test in the lab.

There are much better options for component selection.

Strengths: Electronics parts in a pinch.

Needs to improve: Not much for selection these days. They've refocused their efforts on slinging phones. Radio? No. Shack? Yes.

Purchasing their products is as easy as you have ever imagine. The shipping of products is so quick. The store can be found in the entire country. The website is easy to navigate and can provide all your inquiries as well as they have an excellent customer service.

Strengths: Great phone supplier for office phones and executive mobile. Radio Shock is easy to find, and has a lots of products such as computer peripherals, office supplies etc.

Needs to improve: none so far

Sometimes when putting ideas together quickly and designing a prototype to be ready for a presentation, you often times forget some stuff. Little details here and there that of left out or forgetting in the initial process. Sometimes when you just want a working model Radio Shack has the supplies to get you there.

Strengths: one on every corner, easy to find, lots of products

Needs to improve: not always the best quality products, retail store with retail prices
