We used Quickparts for some rough prototypes during a design change project. They were able to get us a quote the next day, and then the parts arrived within a week and a half. The parts were high quality, and did exactly what we needed them to do. Customer service was excellent as well.

Great wear testing equipment and products! Customer service is responsive and very knowledgeable. We currently have four wear tester machines, and they all work smoothly and are very easy to run. Definitely recommended.

Customer Support at United Biologics was great! They answered all questions we had, and offered helpful and knowledgeable suggestions. They even shipped a sample vascular model to us so we could test out the product before purchasing. We needed a custom silicone vascular model, and they were able to accommodate all of our needs that were different from their standard models. Pricing was fair and shipping was very fast!

I was looking to use Item's building kit system to create a custom enclosure for a piece of sensitive test equipment. I was unsure where to begin so I sent an email to customer service asking for some assistance and recommendations, but did not receive a reply. Their products are very similar to to 80/20 rail system, and since I was able to get in touch with 80/20, I went with their products.

I have used the low profile clamps for many custom fixtures. The clamps are easy to integrate into custom machined parts and can be customized to fit exactly the item that will be clamped. The online product specs and dimensions are very accurate which help immensely when designing fixtures that will utilize the clamps. Great products!

I have submitted many parts through Proto Labs and have had great experiences with all of them. Most of the time I will receive a quote in less than one business day, and then a few days after I will get a phone call making sure I did not have any questions regarding my part. Sometimes, what they can produce is limited by the CNC machine capabilities, but I believe they have just added a 3D printing service which should help to remedy some of those problems. Overall a great service for quick prototype parts.

I am using 80/20 to construct an enclosure for a sensitive piece of equipment. The online product catalog was extremely easy to use, and I was able to go from having no idea about any of their products to feeling confident that I was choosing the correct products for my application. Just to make sure that my design would work properly, I contacted customer service and the representative I spoke with was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about what would work and how their products could make it work better. Overall working with 80/20 has been a great experience. I will definitely use them again in the future.

I have used Omega Engineering to purchase a strain meter and load cell. I initially purchased the wrong meter, but the technical sales person I spoke with easily directed me to the correct item. He was then able to assist me when I had questions when hooking up the load cell to the meter. Customer service at Omega Engineering is great and everyone is extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about their products and electrical wiring in general. Omega's website is a little vague when it comes to noting what products are compatible with one another, but a call to customer service is all it takes to figure out what you need to purchase.

Pioneer-Dietecs provides high quality, ASTM and ISO Standard dies that can be used for multiple tensile and/or tear testing procedures. Dies come with certificates and are of very high quality. They also provide an excellent sharpening service. Customer service is very easy to work with and will answer questions promptly. Prices are a little high, but you get what you pay for; we don't use any other dies but those from Pioneer-Dietecs in our lab.

We used Newport to purchase an isolation table for a piece of lab equipment. The technical sales engineer I spoke with was extremely helpful. He offered his advice on what system would be appropriate for our uses, and answered every question I had about the equipment thoroughly and promptly. The purchasing process was extremely smooth as well, and the isolation table arrived quickly. Overall, Newport provides exceptional customer service and high quality products.

We are using Toro Texture as a contract vendor to perform some testing using the Texture Analyzer. Misti does excellent work and has mastered our methods with no problem. She has gone above and beyond and has completed everything that we have asked of her (testing, report submission, re-running samples and macros, etc) in a timely fashion. She is always extremely pleasant to work with. I would highly recommend her services if you need to contract out work on the Texture Analyzer.

SMFCO is a high quality machine shop that will machine as little as one custom part. They have an in-house quality department that will inspect your parts to ensure they meet the standards outlined in the drawings. Prices here are competitive and often times better than other machine shops in the area.

Cole-Parmer is a great resource for medical device lab equipment. They have an extensive line of tubing, fittings, pumps, and general lab equipment. Their website is very user friendly, and it is easy to see what products will interface well with one another.

Instron software (Bluehill 3) is fairly limited and rigid in its analysis capabilities. There are competitor products that have much greater analysis features and allow you to customize methods to better suit your testing needs. The software also has quite a few bugs, which Instron tries to remedy by coming out with new software versions every few months. This, however, is not a solution for those industries that have to validate equipment and cannot simply upgrade to the latest version of the software. The equipment is in general long lasting and durable, and the load cells are very easy to install.
Customer service is poor and often slow. Perhaps it is because their customer base has grown too large but often times I have to contact my sales person multiple times to get items quoted or my quote adjusted. There is also a lack of communication between departments and I am often invited to conference calls so that I can speak with multiple people at the same time in an attempt to get my question answered.
With all of the software issues and lack of reliable customer service, there are better options for your material testing needs.

MNA is a great, high quality machine shop. Jim is an exceptional production manager who takes the time to meet with me so that he makes sure that he understands every detail about my drawings. MNA will machine as little as one custom part with very quick turnaround times. They almost always deliver outstanding work, but if something on the part needs to be fixed, they will do it no questions asked.

McMaster-Carr is my go-to supplier for any materials I may need to design fixtures or do feasibility testing on products. They also have an extensive inventory of screws, and fasteners. Their extremely fast shipping makes development work go much smoother because I don't have to wait long to get my supplies in.

Both the test equipment (Texture Analyzer) and the Exponent software are extremely user friendly, and have a multitude of customizable options and features that many competitors do not. In the Exponent software it is very easy to create and edit projects, as well as create macros that can do almost every form of analysis you would want. The software comes with several industry standard projects that you can simply select and then begin testing your samples. Texture Technologies also offers a variety of clamps and probes to test a multitude of products. The support staff works constantly with the equipment running tests and doing their own research, so they are very knowledgeable and able to help troubleshoot or offer suggestions. I would highly recommend using Texture Technologies products whenever possible!
