As I mentioned they are great devices for additional support peripherals for 3D CAD. They are always trying to improve their device. On their website thy now have wireless devices: Space Mouse & Pro Wireless, and that is great as the cord seems to get in the way and restrict how far you can be from the device- limits my movements. Oh, they are a bit on the pricey side...

Strengths: Reliable and dependable devices: Space Navigator for Notebooks and Space Navigator for desktops. I have found the devices to be a time saver when it comes to doing CAD work, as it helps to free your mouse up for doing other applications. In addition, I have used the Space Pilot Pro and it has the ability for you to program some of the function keys - with repetitive command, a real time saver. Again, a great device for speeding up the design process - 3D CAD.

Needs to improve: When the device is a few years old - as mine are - it takes a bit of work to get the correct drivers for the windows application or new rev of software. There online support can be a bit frustrating, not as responsive as I would like.

I use both Solidworks and Wildfire and have been using 3Dconnexion devices for many years now (since my company paid for them). I love using them because I feel like I can rotate the model more accurately. When I start to run low on memory and the computer starts to slow down, the spinning using the device seems to be smoother than with the mouse.

A very nice tool to have, but not a necessity. .

Strengths: Makes life easier in 3d modeling. Slick looking device. Smooth spin and zooming. Customizable buttons.

Needs to improve: Kind of pricey. You end up with another device on your desk.

Our experience with 3Dconnexion has been a pleasant one. Their product quality is excellent and we have had 0 issue with any of their mice. Our artists absolutely love this product.

Customer service was friendly and helpful. They all were very knowledgeable and easy to work with. Shipping was fast and the products arrived on time.
