Frys Electronics

Fry's is the place to go if you are in a definite crunch for some components you need NOW such as resistors, wires, connectors, etc. Radio shack is a useless place unless you want to be peddled crap cell phones and crap headphones. 15 years ago, a glorious dreamland to go for any techhead as well. so many toys at your disposal in the burgeoning consumer computer era. today, its feeling like a ghostland as tech has evolved and resources can be found elsewhere with better reliability (ie. newegg, etc.) in general, i still go to fry's for things that require immediate gratification as its selection outweighs any other store out there still today such as best buy, radio shack, staples, etc. but be forewarned, some goods you purchase may have flaws and defects from my experience as they do a horrendous job scrapping out flawed products that are returned and simply just restock it for the next customer to purchase and suffer it's consequences.

Needs to improve: i pray for you if you ever attempt to buy a motherboard or component like it (past experience i've had maybe a 10% success rate at a working motherboard. had to keep returning it until i got one that worked, monumental waste of time).

It took me 2 hours to purchase an audio component. At least 3 person have talked to me and showed me which product to go to. Two staff ganged up on me and tried to convince me to go with more expensive product rather than give me what I was looking for in the first place. They have too good of a service and know how to talk that consumer being persuade to products they don't need.

Strengths: Fry's Employees are driven for success. They are highly motivated and professional. They are knowledgable to their field of expertise and alway willing to help you step by step. Although their prices may not be always competitive as other companies in particular products, you will have the confidence as they will include all warranties and protection to your purchase as other companies don't include. Sales team will always tell you pointers side by side of what is good and not so good with the products. You as consumer always have the options, they will honestly tell you what is best purchase for you depending on your application.

Needs to improve: High product tag price compare to other conventional stores, very driven sales staff that end them a title of annoying sales persons. If you only buy small items, they seem to look the other way rather than help you find what you need. Too many options to warranties that people may sometimes find very confusing.

We needed to have a computer rebuilt using Windows XP. Fry's had bare bones systems that we used. We received one unit that was DOA. I opened it up and found that the memory (RAM) were not seated correctly. The power supply looked used but they sold the unit as new. We returned the unit back to Fry's and were given the run around. In the end, we just asked for our money back. Customer service is very poor! Getting refunds is a huge hassle. Employees are clueless and need to be fired. You are better off going going elsewhere. Fry's is a joke.

I have made some great buys at Frys, but also had some of the most frustrating experiences with used equipment being sold as new and then having to battle with customer service to get the problem fixed. They do not have a "the customer is always right" mentality. Employees can be a bunch of jerks.

Strengths: Frys has a huge selection geared towards those who know what they are looking for. They have an amazing selection of items from software to monitors to computer parts and accessories and software. Their silicon valley presence means there are always a store nearby to go get stuff. Prices can be good, but you have to know the competition as well.

Needs to improve: They sell returned and reboxed items as new. I think this is a violation of the law. Their sales persons sometimes are the most sleasy out there and will lie or use a bait and switch tactic. Customer service sucks. The displays are not kept up to date. Can't trust the stores.

We have at my facilities attempted to purchase electronic products from Frys. They have turned out to be in my opinion one of the worst suppliers of electronic products that their can possibly be. They have terrible prices, a small store stock, as well as the worst customer service. When we went into to purchase bulk orders of electronic products, to which turned out to be one of the worst experiences ever. We asked for help and the people never returned making us go to a different not local store to purchase our electronic products. I do not recommend them at all.

fry's best days are past and gone for sure. they are still one of the better places to get some basic electronic components if you need them same day. but outside of that, their computer hardware is a bit weak these days as computers have evolved and other resources such as newegg and amazon have cannabalized fry's niche. but if you are hungry for candy, never a bad place to go and wait in line and get innundated with candy and cheap $1 electronics

My experience at Fry's is hit and miss. Most of the time, I'm in and out of there within 10-15 minutes. I get it though. They want to keep you in the store as long as possible so you end up purchasing stuff you really don't want but hope you can impulsively buy. Products are cheap but then again, some of them are repackaged and are open items.

Strengths: Fry's has a wide selection of electronic and home equipment that everyone needs. They provide an array of hard to find cables and electrical wires that we utilize at our warehouse. Their website is easy to use and easily searchable.

Needs to improve: I think some of the obvious answers are cheaply made products, repackaged products, long checkout lines, unfriendly customer service, and little knowledge of their products.

The Customer Service in this place is terrible! Every time I go to this place, I just grab whatever I came to get and aim straight to the register. The employees that work there sometimes look like they don't want to be there and when they do ask you if you need any help looking for something, they don't have a clue where can it be found within the store and no knowledge of the product.

Strengths: Prices are reasonable.

Fry's is a great place to go if your in a pinch and you don't have time to wait to make an order and wait for delivery. Fry's has a large selection of various electronic components and electronic test and monitoring equipment. It's also great that they are a local company literally minutes away which is a big plus.

Strengths: What can I say they have an extensive inventory of everything electronics. They can be an engineers life saver when in a pinch and you don't have time to wait for a delivery. They have a large selection of various electronic parts and equipment. Plus they are a local company and that is a major plus.

Needs to improve: Not much to say sometimes it may be hard to get someone to help you answer your technical questions.

I personally enjoy the fact that You do not even need to wait to place an order and wait for it to be delivered! For our company, it really makes everything convenient and we would be in and out in a heartbeat. Fry's is in a great place to go if you are in a pinch. Its a big plus that it really is not too far away and easy to find. We were highly impressed by the large selection and variety of various electronics and monitoring equipment and would definitely shop here for more equipment in the near future. We support Frys Electronic Inc all the way!

A sales lady was extremely rude after I purchased a lap top and said I did not want to buy the extended warranty or Microsoft Office package. This has always stuck with me and bothers me quite a bit. Very rude.

Advertisements are very accessible and accurate.
Prices are low there compared to best buy.

Needs to improve: Customer service is bad in terms of product knowledge so you have to know what you want. There are a lot of returned and refurbished products on the shelves. Some of the product is cheap stuff from China.

I am in Fry's at least once a week. It is really convenient to wal into a store and be able to buy almost any electrical component like ICs and resistors as well as test equipment for the lab. Their prices are unbeatable and they match internet pricing. the return porcess is not very easy, but they will take stuff back within 30 days and 15 days for computer related items.

Strengths: Frys sells computers, peripherals and every hardware component you can imagine such as display cards, memory, power supplies...etc. They have great prices and the match internet prices as well.

Needs to improve: Very difficult return process and shelves are not always well stocked.

Great place to go if you want to buy locally and can't wait. Pretty good pricing. Be sure you know what you want when it comes to tools, it is hit or miss sometimes. Be sure to not buy a returned item.

Strengths: Huge electronics store. Lots of products from wires and resistors to TV's and routers. Generally pretty decent pricing.

Needs to improve: Return process is a total pain, you have to go to 2 lines and lots of paperwork. Not very knowledgeable about their products. Pricing is incorrect sometimes. Sometimes you end up with someone's return product with missing parts.

I needed to purchase a replacement cord for an office projector system. I had no idea what I was looking for, luckily the representatives at Frys did. They showed me what I needed and even explain what it did, how to connect it, and what might have caused the old cord to malfunction.

Strengths: They have great customer service. Each time I spoke with a representative, they knew exactly what I needed and explained my options clearly. They were very helpful.

Needs to improve: There aren't many locations to choose from. It would be great if there was one closer to our office, but its worth the drive.

I've gone many times looking for items i'm not familiar with. And every time its like pulling teeth to get someone to help me out. But hey, they are cheap

Strengths: They are specific for Norcal. they have lots of stores in the bay area and tout the best pricing. Its usually a go to place for us when it comes to electronics and such.

Needs to improve: their customer service is really bad. Usually if you are looking for items there they just walk past you. You have to practically flag them down to get help

Purchasing from Fry's can be a great experience until you need to return something. It's great that you can walk into the store and peruse through the aisle for what is needed, even try looking online first and reserving it for store pickup. You'll most likely be happy with most things that you buy there--nothing special, until you have to return something. Then, get your game face on because they're not going to take it back without a fight.

Our company had a god experience with Frys ,they were able to help us with all our questions and needs we needed several cables for our facility and we were able to get through them .also when we had questions they were very very helpful and helped us complete our orders .

Great quick service, especially when you drive to their store to purchase products.

Strengths: If you live in the Bay Area and are in need of electronic parts, Fry's has it all. Many of their products are made in locally (Silicon Valley), which in turn, provides some of the cheapest prices on-hand compared to buying online. We use Fry's when we have electronic test equipment failure and are in need of a part ASAP.

Needs to improve: Since many parts are made locally and cheap, its hard to determine the reliability of their products.
