they have pretty good rates and makes it even better with corporate discounts. although i personally don't like avis very much as in the past they generally had mainly GM/chevy cars, which i just personally despise based on ergonomics that always seem to have a spot in the car that either impinges on my thigh or my ribs or my forearm or just something that makes driving their cars a horrendous experience...in addition to being just a crappy car....sorry, my rant is more of a reflection on GM than it is on avis.
avis as a rental agency isn't bad. they do everything a rental car agency does and better than others such as enterprise

I have used Avis exclusively for 2 years and have been mostly happy. There have been a few instances where the cars have been dirty and the service representatives have been very difficult to work with in some locations. Most times, I have been treated well. As much as I travel, it is amazing to me that they don't do more to keep me a customer.

Strengths: Very fast turnaround time at the airport, clean cars in the major centers, and usually can't beat the price and ease of creating a booking.

Needs to improve: Mostly cheap American cars, although, getting a good upgraded car can be easy and not too expensive. Small markets with high turnover the cars can smell like smoke and unclean.

i have used them twice and both times i was pleased.Great customer service and very helpful with the questions that i asked.The first time was speedy service from start to finish but the second time i called in first and i was on hold for up to around 15 minutes,but after someone got back to the line she was very apologetic so i was forgiving.Overall a good experience

Twice there has been no vehicle available when I arrive, causing much difficulty.

Several of the cars I've gotten recently (mostly in the South) have had a very strong cigarette smell to them.

Strengths: Presence at all major airports, recognizable name, friendly counter representatives

Needs to improve: The rewards program is lacking, compared to National. I do not get any real benefit from renting from Avis (e.g. free rentals, airline miles, etc.) and I'm bummed that they are our preferred provider.

Our company uses Enterprise and Hertz for travel but every now and then they are booked or they don't have location branches to where we are flying. I've used Avis a couple times and have been generally pleased. Prices are expensive, customer service is really hit or miss.

I frequently use Avis for business travel. Their rerates are higher than their competitors but they do have great customer service. Because I am a Preferred member, checking in and getting to my rental is a very fast process.

Strengths: Located at all major airports, good selection of cars, good customer service, very business friendly.

Have used them for rental cars on business trips. Service is pretty good except one time they insisted on getting extra insurance and didn't want it. They kept pressuring me to get it to the point that I got upset.

I use Avis when on travel and I cant get what I need from my preferred car rental company. Avis cars are nice for the most part and the prices are competitive. Good place to rent a car but they could improve the rewards program.

I used them because of the rewards programs and they are at all the airports. The cars are always clean and they almost always give you the car you reserved unlike some other car rental places.

I have to use Avis as they are a preferred vendor at work. That said,they would still be my first choice if I had one. Always get great service in SLC.

Avis vehicles are good vehicles when traveling. I have not had any issues with their vehicles. They are clean and reliable.
