First off, we love and support open source software. When looking at storage solutions, it's no surprise FreeNAS was at the top of the list. iXsystems is the developer of the later versions of FreeNAS so when looking at storage solutions, look no further. These people know what they're doing. They offer everything from single FreeNAS appliances enterprise solutions for data warehouses along with incredible knowledge, experience and support. Any configuration you want can be done and they'll personally work with you to make sure your needs are met with the best product. I've never worked with FreeNAS before, but the web UI was really simple and easy to use. It didn't take long to get the servers integrated with our infrastructure at all. We have had zero problems with stability and would definitely buy again.

After 20 years in Enterprise Operations, you learn to marvel ZFS's simplicity and reliability!!! even some of the big boys like NetApp (WAFL) simulated some of ZFS's functionality. i give iX great credit for adopting FreeNAS and continuing its development path. FreeNAS/TrueNAS is a hidden trove that most companies do not know about yet, but soon enough it will give all other over-priced storage vendors a run for their money! further more for all the devOPS out-there, you cant ask for anything more beautiful than unix/linux based storage systems that can integrate seamlessly with whatever type of configuration management systems you may already have rather than writing a bunch of API's to talk to propitiatory storage systems! lastly i would like to thank "Kevin Le" for his dedication & professionalism in working with us!

I've bought a bunch of gear from iX. Everything for a little 1U short-depth machine for my home router, to edge servers for our CDN and even 4U 120 TB storage servers for our video libraries. With their configuration worksheet, I can easily specify all of the configuration I need, down to the BIOS settings. This means I can configure the server and have it shipped directly to the data center, instead of having to configure it my self or pay for remote hands. When we bought the server with 30 harddrives, we expected to spend an hour putting in 120 tiny screws to mount the drives into the caddies. When we opened the box and it was already done, we swore to never buy from anyone else ever again.

We love iX for the following reasons:

- They build systems to spec, and we sometimes do have somewhat special requests.

- They're very up-front with what they can and cannot do, and what they're willing and not willing to do. (I.e. they voiced concern when we requested a rather convoluted and risky field-upgrade)

- They know the SuperMicro line of hardware very well, and will offer good suggestions for improvement upon our initial requests

- When given rather vague descriptions of what we want, they will come back with good concrete suggestions on what to get

- We have no complaints about support, and it does seem that while others offer "better support options on paper", iX delivers

- iX is always quick to get back to us

iXsystems has great products and great solutions that won't break the bank. Their TrueNAS stuff is unbelievable and if you are on a budget may I recommend the FreeNAS offerings. If you try the FreeNAS offerings it is best to take the 4 or 5 classes and take great notes or use some sort of video capture and record your class as there are a million ever changing parameters in the 50 different ways you can setup a FreeNAS box. My FreeNAS box is an iSCSI share using RAID10 for 20 large HDDs and for cache we deployed 960GB fast SSD. My experience with ixSystems has been nothing short of stellar. I hate giving 5 starts but honestly
couldn't find anything to fault these guys on. I spent months researching a NAS/SAN solution. I finally purchased a FREENAS ISCSI SAN running on ixSystem hardware. It has all the features and flexibility that I required. I have a corporate level central storage system with all the horsepower I need for a much lower cost than the other vendors. I'm running a full Windows 2012 domain in a VMware virtual environment and haven't even come close to hitting the performance boundaries yet.

The sales team was knowledgeable and helpful, the support team has been super, the solution is awesome, the price is great. What else can I say?

I've bought servers from iXsystems (and offmyserver) for many years to run FreeBSD and later to deploy TrueNAS. They understand the product technically and their work on the underlying operating system has been superb. They have cultured a hardware line and supported the OS changes to make FreeBSD/ZFS for high availability easy to install. I've received help from the top engineering to make it through the tough FreeBSD 6 years ( thanks Matt!). Setting up zfs boot volume mirror configuration can be accomplished directly from the installer. The storage was tested burned in - although reassuring it's a surprise to see the zfs volume tags remaining from the burn in test rig. I'm replacing Oracle and NetApp installs.

Through Amazon I received a FreeNAS Mini system that had obviously been to someone else and come back to them. The boxes were open (really) and the system itself was wonky. The VGA port didn't work, and neither did the USB. The system web interface didn't match the user guide and there was no root user. Truly. The IX folks didn't hesitate to build a new system, burn it in, and ship it quickly to me. They sent an RMA label to take care of the return, and they opened a trouble ticket with Amazon to debug the snafu. I like the way they handled this, and i like the system. Ruben, you nailed it!

After calling the usual big vendors (dell, HP, IBM, etc) , who were perplexed when i answered the question of what operating system i was planning to use with "FreeBSD", I started looking for other options. iXsystems was an amazing find for me. Kevin knew the product line extremely well, and was able to help me come up with a solution that not only fit my performance needs, but my budget as well. It's not often I come across someone in sales who is willing to help me save money! Between the quality of service, excellent hardware, and overall experience, I would recommend iXsystems to anyone looking for a server to run any OS.

I never bought hardware from iXsystems before, although as a FreeBSD fun I knew FreeNAS system quite well. This time I need some hardware for a image capturing project. Discussing with Kevin, he promptly provided recommendations for what I
should get. His communication is prompt, brief and accurate, very much like a scientist. He listens to my special concern and request. I received my two main computer workstations in about 1.5 week. I've been working with iX for about 3 years. I am by no means their biggest customer, but when I call they always answer and give me their full attention. They spend lots of time going over what I need, making sure what they build will meet my requirements. Things are shipped fast and safe! I have never seen hard drives shipped so well. Bottom line, when I've got a critical deadline I don't waste my breath calling Dell or HP. I've been burned before, their sales people have no idea about the implementation. iX does!

Very impressed...their website was somewhat typical, no prices on complete systems, have to fill out the form and someone will contact you...expected an arm-wrestling match.
Very pleasantly surprised to (a) get an email first (before a phone call) asking for my preference in contact (which is email.) Then (b) they were willing to work through a quote via email, and after a few well-put questions, I actually got what I needed, a price! Happy about the encounter and pleased with the price quoted and overall am very glad I found iX Systems.

Not many people need a desktop system with 10 hard drives, or with a ridiculously large range of operating system compatibility requirements. But I did.

iX worked with me to find a cost-effective solution priced much less than their competitors. They offered hardware solutions I didn't even know existed. They met my goofy requirements with a smile, and saved me a nice chunk of change doing it.

I'm so glad I didn't use one of those easy online "system configuration" tools. What I'm getting will meet my needs better than I expected.
