dell is probably my preferred laptop/desktop supplier for a company. I have done IT support at previous startups in addition to my engineering roles and have a pretty good PC background. i find the dells well priced, well structured for customization for your coworkers needs, and does not come with the crap bloatware that you see with HP, sony, etc. That bloatware is my #1 turnoff on any system. dell's are about as close to a OEM install as you can get. you can elect to install the dell stuff if you'd like for some other functioanlity/drivers they may have, but usually it doens't compromise the system as much as a HP or sony. did i mention how annoying HP and Sony systems are?
pricing on dell is also very competitive and at times does make it difficult to want to customize my own system off of newegg or just get a dell system if i want to save my time, because the price saved on a self built system is very minimally different than getting a dell and selecting your options.
quality of the hardware isn't bad. i've seen their quality improve from when i had a early laptop for work in the early 2000s to now using a dell at my current job, and the hardware quality is better. Before my screen did lose pixels pretty early, these days, i haven't had any failures (hell i even accidentally spilled a cup of starbucks coffee on my laptop about a year ago and fully salvaged the system and it still works, no problems at all. well the trackpad is a bit off at times....i can work around that...)
customer support is hit or miss. sometimes you end up talking to john or howard from india, but if your issue becomes more complex, i've actually ended up back in the US with john or howard here which was more useufl.

We've worked with Dell for a number of years and they have changed their model a few times over the years. Originally we ordered from them a few entry level computers for our staff. They were priced great and worked well for about a year, then things started to break, programs couldn't update and it just wasn't a good investment so we had to order again due to contractual obligations with our finance guys. As you go up on the chain of products, they appear to be better and of better quality, however things were still hit and miss. Until you make it to the high end stuff, which is great, but you're paying as much for better built computers elsewhere. The only product worth it on the high end are the monitors. They're amazing and at a better price as others more comparable monitors. If it weren't for the highend stuff, Dell would not be a recommended computer for reliability and quality.

Needs to improve: cheap isn't always good, and their cheaper entry level computers are not always good or reliable

I manage a purchasing contract for our office's computers. We have gone with Dell computers and monitors for the last 10 years. Generally been very happy with the contract. We have good support, decent turn-around and the computers seem to be fairly robust. We have had minor issues with fans and harsh environment survivability, but overall the computers are pretty good. We are very happy with the monitors and they have great HD quality and last a long time. Not so happy with the printers and we no longer spec Dell as our printer supplier.

Strengths: Good, reliable desktop computers. Customizable and easily spec'd for our needs. Decent customer support when under warranty. Standardized case and chassis sizes make swapping and spare inventory easier. Pretty decent durability.

Needs to improve: Not sure of long term quality and if company will survive. Great computers and monitors. Not as happy with their printers. Not super reliable and expensive replacement supplies.

Our experience with Dell has been exceptional. Our account manager took care of us and answered our emails immediately. Quotes were provided within a few hours and we were happy with the prices it came with. If there was an issue with a laptop, Dell would issue a replacement right away and an RMA number for the broken one. Service was fast and friendly!

Strengths: Dell is a great vendor of ours that produces excellent laptops and servers. We have purchased several of their products and are completely satisfied with the quality and durability. Service from customer support is top notch as they provided information based on the specs we gave them. We have a premiere account and they have offered competitive prices on all of the hardware we've purchased. Shipping was fast and arrived safely in packaged boxes.

Needs to improve: Dell doesn't have any weaknesses. Truly an iconic brand!

Dell has some of the best customer support you'll ever find. They can remote into your computer and take a look with the problems you might have. They will go out of their way to assist you in your needs. If there was any issue with any of our monitor, customer service acted quickly and sent us a replacement monitor before we even sent the bad one back.

Strengths: Dell has some of the best monitors out there. Their crisp display is what our artists use and continually ask for. We also purchase Dell laptops for the business needs of our organization as well. These laptops have lasted at least 3 years before having to be replaced. Dell's customer service should also be noted for their excellence and support.

Needs to improve: Prices can fluctuate a lot.

We have purchased desktops and laptops for our staff for use to check in members, or just for general use for our employees to use in their offices or at the front desk. We have really, for the most part, never ran into problems with our computers purchased from Dell, they rarely shut down or require other fixes. Yet when they rarely have had problems, we have called up Dell Customer Service, and they have quickly helped us with our problems and always solved our computer problems to get them up and running quickly to make our patrons life's easier. Finally their computers come at great prices and our easy to buy with bulk orders.

I have now, 4 Dell Systems in my company. I use SolidWorks and needed a computer to keep up the the software and with Dell's help, I specified a computer that, 4 years later, still allows me to create large SolidWorks files/assemblies, and drawings without crashing.

I also recently ordered a computer for my coworker to use to input financial data. With Dell's online chat, they helped me to get me a basic system, running windows 7 and without spending a bundle. I probably could have procured a computer from someone else a little cheaper, but Dell's support is worth it.

Strengths: Great selection process in ordering a custom computer.

Needs to improve: Dell is a bit pricey, but may be worth the money.

The best thing about Dell is that it is a one stop shop when it comes to computer products. You can buy both new and refurbished items from them directly and your product is warranted for a limited time. Alot of places do not warranty refurbished items at all.

Strengths: Dell has everything you need when it comes to computers.

Needs to improve: Dells biggest weakness is their support. I had an issue one time with an order I had placed and got the run around for 3 days before I was able to resolve this issue. I tried to go on their site and file a complaint but they do not have an area to file a complaint.

I have used dell products. In fact, I still owned and still using dell laptop I bought 4 years ago. Just a quick upgrade and you're ready for another two years or so of using it.

Strengths: The name speaks for itself. Dell computers are well worth it. Affordable, dependable laptops and computers. Costumer service are trained to specific field,and trained to be proficient in trouble shooting. Dell computers are easy to work with, and user friendly OS. DELL products can compete with other products. The Quality ,pricing, and warranties are its best. Their technicians are highly knowledgable with their respective fields. It is a brand to go to when it comes to affordable high quality consumer computers.

Needs to improve: Non so far

Great for the price however quality is subpar. Customer service is really a pain and costs extra for the good kind. Nothing beats Apple's customer service.

Needs to improve: I've had issues with a lot of dell computers in terms of reliability. I will need to find a new supplier next time around.

We have purchased desktop computers through Dell. All of the computers that we purchase through Dell are the best and never breakdown or rarely have any sort of problem. The ordering of computers through Dell is an extremely easy process as their customer service helps you along with the process making it very easy to use. Once your order a computer, the delivery process is incredibly quick and rarely takes more than the projected time. Finally I will say they have great prices on all of their products. I highly recommend them for desktop computers.

I use dell computers at my work place for keeping records of our medical machine's datas and documents. These Computers are fast and easy to use. However, as for my experience at my workplace, these computers crash a lot. Sometimes it crashes multiple times in a day. I am not sure if it's the computer itself thats causing the problem or caused by someone who also uses the same computer. Other than that, the price is cheap and quality is good.

We have a few dell server machines which have been great, and we have also been very satisfied with the service for those machines. As for enterprise laptop use, dell laptops look and work great, but we've found that they are not the most durable and don't stand up very well to everyday business use and travel. We have fully switched to Thinkpads for business laptops, but will continue to use dell for servers and desktop needs.

all of our computers/monitors in the pharmacy is from Dell. we have roughly 5 systems in our pharmacy which was set up by the technician from dell along with one of our technology specialist. the computers are extremely reliable considering we never turn them off and they are working all day processing orders. we rarely have had issues with the computers and when we do, we have a specific contact with our rep. the computers are one of the more affordable brands in the industry.

Most Dell desktops and laptops that our company has used have performed as expected with no problems. All Dell printers that we have used, From the 1160 to the 3130, have been poorly made, with the larger workgroup model requiring replacement 3 times during its 2 year warranty period. Non-toner yearly consumable costs for their laser printers will easily exceed the original printer.

Strengths: Well-build PCs, servers and desktops, good online resources for drivers and software assistance.

Needs to improve: Low quality, quickly outdated printers, mixed-quality technical support options by phone or chat.

We have purchased company laptops to give to our employees to use at home and work. Dell laptops run fast and very rarely run into problems and virus problems. They are at excellent prices and are extremely fast and never run into problems. They have excellent prices and customer service and in house expertise and will easily turn you on to any computer that is right for you and your situation. I highly recommend them as a supplier of laptops.

My office has been using Dell computers for over 10 years. We never had major problems with it, always does the job. Dell computers help keep our data and business alive. Any problems we have, we contact the Dell IT phone line and they get someone to come down here asap, they really care about their customers. Great company to work with for a small or big business.

this is a review mainly about their computers. We use there desk tops at our company and it does the job. They're relatively cheap/affordable, durable and the customer service is not bad although a few times when our employees have had to contact customer service, the calls were routed to another country. But at the end of the day, theres are reliable computers for day to day office duties and work well for our company.

every work station in the lab is equipped with a desk topped manufactured and licensed by dell and they are extremely high in quality and the most reliable desktops we have ever had in the lab period. they are easy to access and easy to use and especially come in handy when writing long reports or drawing up prototypes. these desktops are top of the food chain. A+
