Frustrating and wastes time.
Strengths: This review is based on my experience working with United before and after the flight actually occurs. As an Executive Assistant I am constantly booking travel on behalf of my colleagues. I am yet to have an enjoyable experience with United.
Needs to improve: My number one complaint of United is their Customer Service, specifically over the phone. You are typically routed through many Representatives who reside in numerous locations around the globe. If you call in to solve a problem, each Rep. starts with "I apologize for this inconvenience" which gets quite annoying when you aren't looking for any apology you are looking for a solution. Overall, I find their website to not be User friendly, there is little to no flexibility with your flight once it is booked. All of this would be okay to deal with if their flights were reasonably priced, but that is not the case.
not a big fan of united. the customer service is not very good unless you have some serious mileage perks. good luck with that also. i have never ever been upgraded or anywhere close with united. my miniscule few hundred thousand miles is nothing compared to some of the serious business travelers with 25 years of flying with united. and being in the bay area, good lord forget about it, half the plane probably has more miles than me on each flight. that to me is not the issue, but customer service is just horrendous. planes are older as well and food is the worst if you end up on their international flights.
Strengths: Lots of flights, many locations
Needs to improve: customer service, nickel and dimes you to death
I use to fly United all the time, but found that it was getting expensive and the rewards didn't work out too well. I got status but never got upgraded. I've noticed that 90% of the time if you bring the bags you want to checkin as carry-on, usually they run out of room and will check your bags for free (if you don't have status this is great).
Strengths: Lots of flights. They fly everywhere. Economy plus. Good customer service. If you fly enough you can get PRE for security.
Needs to improve: Pricing is not that great. Some planes are old. No snacks. Charge for bags. Upgrades are hard to get unless you have high status. Dislike the rewards program. Expensive change fees.

I want to like them, I really do, but they continue to let me down. As some who travels quite a bit, it is frustrating to live in a location where most of the 1Ks and Global live. Not something I blame them for, but with the acquisition of Continental, it is even less likely to get good service.
Strengths: SFO is a hub so lots of direct flights to all over the US.
Needs to improve: Too numerous to count. Weak customer service, old planes, expensive, continued watering down of frequent flyers like myself. I have been with them for a few years and stuck.

Generally, they get the job done. Meaning they get me to and from my destination. However, the experience is never very good. Mediocre at best. This is comparing to some of the other international airlines.
Strengths: United Airlines will always be around. You can count on that. Plus they have a lot of International flight options.
Needs to improve: Terrible service, from the front desk to the flight attendants. Also, the flights are not cheap. Also, international flights are about 80% on time.
Always a delayed flight.
Strengths: Can rack up miles easily.
Needs to improve: Never have they been on time which is very frustrating when you have to get to meetings.
not my favorite airline. food is pretty bad for international. fees and change fees are horrible
Strengths: hub in SF
Needs to improve: customer service, food, price

I used to fly United and AA all the time, but now they charge for bags. During the downturn mid 2000's they got really bad with service and they have not recovered but they are trying. They do have a lot of routes which may the only reason to use them.
Strengths: They are trying to change...?
Needs to improve: Expensive , late, charge for bags
They need to revamp a lot of their jets. I flew international and we don't have our individual in-flight entertainment system.
Strengths: Good partners with other airlines like Singapore
Needs to improve: Lots. They need to revamp a lot of their jets. I flew international and we don't have our individual in-flight entertainment system. Many carriers, especially the good ones are all up-to-date except United!
I will fly with United again but it isn't my first choice airline.
Strengths: Dependable and good customer service. I have never had any trouble on any United flights. No lost baggage's.
Needs to improve: Planes tend to be older. Prices are fair. For where my company sends me to, United has a smaller selection of flights.
The staff was the only good thing about my trip
Strengths: Friendly staff and they sometimes have good last minute sales which works great for someone in Marketing as we sometimes need to meet with clients at the last minute
Needs to improve: Delayed flights. Planes need to be updated to have more leg space.
I use United only as last resort. Their seating is very uncomfortable and they are frequently late. The only positive thing is that fly practially everywhere.
Strengths: United Airlines provides air transportation services all over the country and to many international desitinations as well.
Needs to improve: Uncomfortable coach and delayed flights
My first flight with United Air was already not a good experience because of the long delays. The whole travel (connecting flights) was not fun for me.
Strengths: More flight schedules and covers most airports across U.S. and Canada
Needs to improve: Price, delays, older planes
Years ago, United was my preferred airline. Over the last few years they have moved down the list. Like many other airlines, they charge for everything and the customer service is lacking.
Strengths: United serves many domestic and international cities
Needs to improve: Price
United is great if you have status with them, and are able to take advantage of their star alliance network.
Strengths: Tons of flights available in the US and across the World.
Needs to improve: Older planes on some flights, baggage fees, and pricier then other airlines

I've found the service to be good and flight timeliness exceptional.
Strengths: United is a reputable airline with a lot of routes to places that I fly. I've found their customer service to be good.
Needs to improve: They seem to sometimes cost more than other airlines.
typical major airline provider. lots of routes, but lots of fees such as significant cancellation or change fees.
Strengths: lots of routes
Needs to improve: lots of fees
Overall no complaints here. Can't say they go above and beyond, but overall good airline with tons of destinations and average prices.
Strengths: Lots of destinations
Needs to improve: Change fees
Has been excellent so far!
Strengths: Travel miles, excellent customer service both at the airport and on-board. The only airline that has deeper market penetration in all industries.
Needs to improve: None.
Food is atrocious, however sometime they have good menu
Strengths: On time service
Needs to improve: No entertainment systems in all its aircrafts
