The stores are well staffed by usually really helpful workers. The stores in general are pretty well laid out. Sometimes they have very similar items with different sku numbers which can carry different prices, so be aware of what you are looking for.

Strengths: Harbor Freight is good for consumable tools which we use in situation where we are not too disappointed if they break, get lost or damaged. They are very economical and have a decent build quality to them. We use them to outfit our not mission critical trucks with spare tools. You can get just about anything there. We also use them for Air tool fittings and pneumatic guns, again for non mission critical use. If you have a small start up and need some inexpensive tools for around the office, Harbor is a decent place to get stuff. Their quality has really improved over the last 2-3 decades. It used to be really cheap, but the Chinese seem to have figured out build quality and finish. The coupons they run in their ads can save a bunch of money.

Needs to improve: Compared to American Made tools, there is no comparison. Their sockets don't seem to fit as tight and can round off bolts. Hammers and striking tools are not finished as well. It is a you get what you pay for store. Don't expect to get repair parts on any power tools. Consider them to be disposable. There may be US patent violations of some items as well.

Either for work or for home/personal, harbor freight is a great place to go if you need a tool that you don't expect to keep until past Armageddon. Most likely scenario here is won't survive until the next winter season, but lots of times, you just need a tool that will get your through your current scenario or the next few months, and at the fraction of the cost, it is many times worth it. Some examples, if you need a power drill but are un-willing to spend $200+ for a DeWalt, you can probably find one at Harbor freight under their line of tools for less than $30 and maybe even cheaper with their weekly coupons. Or unwilling to spend $150 for a mitutoyo caliper, you can get yourself a $10 caliper from harbor freight.
For many of us, for the simple daily tasks, these might be enough, but there are times you may need the high-quality tool, and you may want to elect to spend the money on the quality in those instances.

I made the mistake of going to harbor freight for some simple tools when I was traveling for an extended period of time and needed some screw drivers, a hammer, wrenches, etc. I knew I wouldn't be using them for much longer than the duration of my travel so I decided to go with the cheap option, and boy were they cheap. The handle fell off of one of the screw drivers about a month after I purchased it and the hammer head was loose by the time I left. I wasn't using any of the tools excessively, they were just cheap.

Speaking with their customer service reps. they are very helpful and knowledgeable of their product to help completed an accurate order for the company. They are a great vendor to work with.

The tool selection is pretty great and the price is great! You can find tools that no one else carries - a real asset.

Strengths: Harbor Freight has a wide selection of tools - power, hand, measurement, industrial, etc... Their pricing is very competitive. A good source for tools if you want them cheap! Not every store carries the same products, so you may have to go to a different location for your specific need. Most of the staff is well versed in what is available.

Needs to improve: The main drawback is not all the tools are high quality. Again, the price is great, so sometimes you get what you pay for. Not everyone that works in sales has a great amount of experience. I tried to get a replacement for a specific tool and had to go to a few places before they could help.

Harbor freight is one of our suppliers for almost all of our tool needs as at our club small fixes are always needed to keep it running. The tools that we purchase from them are top of the line, as harbor tools are easy to figure out and use. They additionally have great pricing on all of their products and really do help you along with the shipping process and they make it extremely easy and streamlined. We cannot thank them enough for the tools, and how much of an excellent provider they are.

Strengths: I have used Harbor Freight Tools in the past and they do offer a wide range of products from hand tools to power tools, welding equipment, shop tools, jacks, and a whole lot more.

Needs to improve: Offering too much can sometimes hurt a company. Their website looks like a newspaper ad. They offer little help because they don't specialize so if you are unsure of what you should get then I would not recommend going to Harbor Freight tools.

We'll shop at Harbor Freight for random tools we need for small projects. Some of their items are really cheap. But it won't last you that long but it gets the job done. You get good value for what you buy their. I would not go out of my way but if their stores are in your are go and shop there.

Whether I am working on sub-assembly, assembly line, or testing and calibration area, this tools are the tools I use most of the time in a daily basis. Perfect for assembling and dismantling our medical machines. very light and handy. This tools are also affordable compare to other brand tool we have in my department. I got no issues with it. I highly recommend this tools to anyone.

Harbor Freight is a great place to go for hand and power tools - especially if you plan on using them for a single job. Their prices are excellent, but the quality of the merchandise is variable. Sometimes you get an angle grinder that performs just like a name brand, and sometimes you get one that is DOA. I have had good luck with return of defective product, but be sure to return it quickly and keep that receipt!

I have several hand tools at my work station made by harbor freight. I feel that they deliver quality and is ready for competition. they just need to stay innovative and they would be alright

Weve been purchaising Lab equipment to Harbor Freight Tools. The quality of their product is exemplary and they have a very good price compare to other vendors. They also offers a large selections of hand tools which are commonly used for everyday routine in our firm. Each Harbor Freight is different and varies in terms of level of service. While product selection is typically the same, some locations are less chaotic than others. We often procure our power tools and related components on an as needed basis from Harbor Freight as they are a good one stop shop. Customer service is typically good with helpful staff. Appreciate the more personal feel than the larger competitors.

I have been using Harbor Freight Tools products for years since ive been with this company and their power tools and hand screw drivers are some of the best that I have used since ive been doing tech work. their hand tools are very durable which makes repairs super easy on me and their power drills are very reliable especially when I have to meet a deadline.

When building the R&D lab we purchased some of our equipment and tool storage items from Harbor Freight. The tool boxes were fine. The hand tools are fine, but you can tell they are not the highest quality, but for the price they are totally functional. I'm not totally sure if we would get our power tools from here though.

we were looking into ordering some new tools for the lab a couple of months back so we looked up Harbor Freight and ordered a small quantity of power drills for our assembly line but unfortunately they didn't pan out the drill were too heavy and many of our employees complained about achy wristed and hands from the heaviness of the drills.
