Solid Concepts (Now Stratasys Direct Manufacturing)

we have used solid concepts for medical manufacturing needs a few times this past year. For most of our projects with Solid concepts, it was to resolve issues that arose with some of our products such as the continued breakage of a device enclosure and needing a vendor to perform a torque test on a few of our projects. solid concepts were able to resolve all of these issues in a timely manner and with high accuracy. We initially used their online quoting service to get an approximate estimation of the cost to our company and the end bill was quite accurate. Their quoting service allows for a start to finish tracking of the project which helped us to stay on track with timeline and finances. We were actually fairly impressed with their solution to our enclosure issue. their engineers employed composite technologies for reinforcement in the problem areas within the enclosure to provide strengthening structural support and this issue has not occurred since that was implemented.

We have used Solid Concepts Inc. for their 3D Rapid Prototypes. The Stereolithography (SLA) process is what we have used to make our parts out of it offers us a quick solution for our models for evaluation. Solid Concepts company supplies us these parts (sometimes over night) and it can come in handy. On our bezel we wanted to make sure all the features were correct before we shelled out money for hard-tooling overseas. Because of the SLA process we were able to address any design iterations, engineering questions, form, fit & function of the part before it became too late. Not the cheapest process, but in the long-haul it can save time and money. A great investment, which pays for itself over and over...

Strengths: They are experts at 3D Rapid Prototyping, RFQ's, Customer Service, Technical Support, Quick turnaround

Needs to improve: They are just a 3D Rapid Prototype facility and sometimes the parts get damaged in shipping, due to the process. They are not equipped for second operations or adding a painted finish to the SLAs. Also, we used them for Silicone molds on some of our parts and we had issue with getting correct doc's, e.g, FAI, Certs, etc... We were constantly giving them a call with regards to doc's and parts delay off Silicone Molds. Additionally, the silicone molds could only produce between 10 - 15 parts each. This tends to drive the lead-time and costs up.

My company contracts Solid Concepts for their 3d printing capabilities. When prototyping our consumer products it's helpful to make quick modifications to the product and get it printed fast. Solid Concepts is able to deliver on this need with flying colors. Their process is easy and their prices are reasonable. I have had a chance to interact with their customer service teams, they are knowledgeable and efficient in getting the work done right the first time. I would highly recommend you give Solid Concepts a try for your 3d printing needs.

Our firm sourced Solid Concepts to do some 3d printing on some medical device prototypes that we had designed and the work came out great. The rapid prototyping allowed us to test a lot of designs for a competitive price. Solid Concepts also guided us through the 3d printing process and explained the pros and cons of it. We really value them as a trusted partner and will continue to use their services whenever we need 3d printing.

We have contracted with solid concepts for years. We really wanted to work with someone that does awesome custom work they can compete with other businesses prices. We have their team colab with our team with no problems. They have great business ethics! Would recommend to anyone.

Strengths: website is very well designed. Easy to navigate and order! Fair prices and fast shipment. They do a lot of custom work.

We contracted them to print us 3D models for our prototyping project. We've worked with their knowledgeable staff to get some parts quickly made and they were able to deliver more than what we expected. The only cons is that their pricing is higher than normal but maybe because they have more capabilities and features.

We needed to have some concept models made for our Marketing group. We work with the fold at Solid to get several parts made. Parts came out nice and we were able to decide on a design. Pricing is not as competitive as we would have like but they have many prototyping capabilities.

Quality Work. Technical and Customer Service were very responsive.

Strengths: We source some our design models to be made with Solid Concepts Inc. The quality of the parts made were very good. The colors were sharp and very nice. Pricing is fair. Their prototyping capabilities met and if not exceeded our expectations. Quotes were accurate and deliveries were on time. I would recommend to others.

Low volume prototyping can be quick. The engineering group there are very knowledgeable about customer need. The parts come out nice and meet out specification. We stop using because it is quite pricy but worth it if you need some thing urgent to be prototyped for testing.

Solid concepts is one of the company we use to prototype our parts for a start up company I used to work with. They have excellent customer support and good turn around on parts. part quality is also very good for rapid prototypes.

I have run some far out designs on their Polyjet printers with success and good service. I have also been advised against running some designs that they expect not to turn out well. I appreciate the care taken in this regard.

I used them run some quick prototypes to look at geometry and design for manufacture. It is a great tool to see how mold-able or unmold-able your design is. Great group of folks down there with reasonable prices.
