Anytime I fly on Southwest its usually because of the price. I have found that when I am in a hurry to buy a ticket I can usually find the best priced (for a next day/week) ticket. Southwest always seems to have flights into/out of the airports I frequent. The only problem I have ever had is with the general seating tickets they offered (or may still be offering, I haven't flown Southwest since then). A couple flights I was on offered general seating and I hadn't known this when I got the ticket and wound up in a very uncomfortable seat for a cross-country plane flight. My fault for not knowing I suppose but something that was not a fun experience, even if I had known from the begining.
Strengths: Price, flexibility, flight options
Needs to improve: overall quality of travel
I appreciate The flexibility offered around travel with rapid rewards points. I often book multiple possible travel dates in advance, and it's easy to cancel the flights I don't need and get them instantly credited back to my account.
I also take full advantage of their 2 check-in, 2 carry on policy as I often travel with art in hand. They've been very fair about fudging the rules for me to make sure I get my artwork on board. I've gotten the occasional sneer from a flight attendant when bringing larger pieces aboard, but they're just doing their job.
Strengths: Great prices. Rapid rewards program in conjunction with rapid rewards Visa. Check in luggage is still free.
Needs to improve: No assigned seating.
Despite delays and mistagging my baggage, Southwest has the best customer service. They admit to mistakes and do what they can to make it right. Prices are great if you know your travel dates far enough in advance, but still pretty reasonable last minute. I fly back and forth from LA to SF frequently and there are several nearby cities and travel times which makes getting where I need to go pretty flexible. They have a wonderful rewards program and also provide vouchers to right their mistakes.
Strengths: Customer service, Baggage allowance, Domestic airport options, Credit for unused travel funds
Needs to improve: Delays

southwest is a solid airline option for budget travelers. they are incredibly efficient, but that also takes away from a comfortable travel experience. i personally hate their boarding setup. i don't mind getting on board as a last group as long as i know my seat. i don't like to deal with the huge rush of finding a seat the way southwest does it, but you deal with it for the prices they offer
Strengths: Very efficient, cheap, many flights on the west coast
Needs to improve: feel like your a cow at a ranch
I cannot say they have exceptional service but I'd say it is above average and consistent. They are very reliable and the price is always pretty good; definitely competitive. I don't really like the cattle call lining up process they have but I suppose that's how they cut costs and fare prices. Once in awhile you get some really entertaining flight attend acts too.
Strengths: Very consistent performance. Very reasonable price. Good flight attendants.
Needs to improve: Can never get in the first group boarding no matter how early I check in! Veery limited snack options.

Use Southwest for scheduling business trips, especially between SF and LA/burbank. very convenient airline for these trips with lots of flights. No change fee is vital, especially for last minute changes. No fee for checked bags is great, business service is not much different, just board earlier but for short flights it is not a big issue. Great online tools and online services.
Strengths: Streamlined business, they know how to efficiently get people in and out.
Needs to improve: sometimes have delays, but not more than other airlines.

When I or any of my staff fly within California, we always use Southwest. They have the best fares, a lot of flight times, I love the boarding process and they are always on time. They are just not that good for long distance cross country flights.
Strengths: Best airline for flights within California, frequent air fare sales, lots of flights though out the day, great on time record, very good customer service, fly to all major airports.
Needs to improve: Not very many non stop cross county flights
i feel like i'm cattle being herded when i take southwest. everyone fighting for seats... not the best situation to be in with a large group.
dirty, old airplanes.
Strengths: cheap!
Needs to improve: seating arrangements
My experience with Southwest Airlines is that their many flight options are very convenient when booking travel. The only issue I have is that their Customer Service Reps are difficult to get a hold of.
Strengths: The strength of Southwest Airlines is their many flights to choose from. They make selecting an ideal time easy.
Needs to improve: The weakness of Southwest Airlines is that with my experience it's been sometimes tougher to get a hold of a customer service representative.
Southwest Airlines has the customer service aspect of its business under control. I am always met with smiling faces and friendly folks. Also, you cannot beat the price.
Strengths: When I am looking for bargain in regards to airline tickets, Southwest Airlines is always my first stop. Southwest is very budget friendly and generally has the lowest prices for travel.
Needs to improve: The quality of travel is not equivalent to it's competitors. In other words, you do not have the extra leg room, in-flight t.v. and/or movies.
I use Southwest airlines almost exclusively for travel within California. They have many convenient flights to airports all over the state at very good prices if you book in advance and of course, bags fly for free, They have a very good on time record and the have a very easy and efficient boarding process.
Strengths: Low cost, convenient flight times, fly out of all major airports, bags fly free, easy boarding process
Needs to improve: Very few coast to coast non stop options.

I primarily fly Southwest whenever I can. Their prices are great. And their rewards program is the best. I don't feel like they nickel and dime you to death. Their customer service has always been top notch.
Strengths: Really good pricing. No change fees. Great travel rewards (companion pass, free internet). They have snacks for free. Free bag check. Entertaining flight crew.
Needs to improve: Cattle call. Seats are not always very comfortable. Not too many direct flights. They don't fly everywhere.
I racked up over 170000 miles on southwest last year. If you are able to be apart of their rewards program it's great, you get first choice on seats, free wifi and lots of miles to use for personal travel
Strengths: Cheap fairs, free peanuts and pretzels and other snacks. Great rewards program. Companion pass is best reward in airline industry
Needs to improve: Flights are often more crowded then other airlines, no red eye flights

Great! Friendly, nice, respectful staff.
Strengths: Super efficient airline. Everything about their process is very customer friendly, from booking your ticket (with the ability to exchange/return it at any time), to checking-in to your flight online, and even boarding the plane. Their over the phone customer service is also great at helping quickly with any question you may have.
Needs to improve: You do not know exactly when their prices will increase, so book early!
cheap west coast routes. although pretty impersonal with the way they board, it is cheap. bags fly free too, so at least they keep fees at a minimum as best they can, as compared to the major carriers where fees are constantly stacking up
Strengths: cheap, lots of west coast routes
Needs to improve: very impersonal

Overall SW airlines is solid airlines that I use for business Their prices are good and are mostly ontime.
Strengths: Has great routes in the Southwest of the country. There customer service is exceptional and usually affordabley priced.
Needs to improve: I do not like the A, B, C grouping and the fact that I cannot get a reserved seat in advance.
Gotta love the price, but HATE their delivery. Every time I fly Southwest form SFO my flight is either delayed or cancelled. I have never left on-time. I now fly out of Oakland since SFO is so bad.
Strengths: Very inexpensive
Needs to improve: Never leaves or arrives on-time. Constant flight delays and cancellations.

One of the best Airlines to fly with fair prices and good customer service.
Strengths: Very reasonable prices. Staff is friendly. Their seating assignments make it easy for you to sit next to your traveling party.
Needs to improve: Limited in direct flights. They don't participate in kayak so you need to look at the prices yourself from Southwest directly.
Overall, I like flying with Southwest airlines because of the cheaper price, convenience, and good service not to mention the 2 free luggage check in.
Strengths: Cheaper price, good service, available in our nearest airport, free luggage check in
Needs to improve: I experienced a flight delay one time but that is okay, it could happen sometimes.

Every time anyone from my company uses southwest for business flights, the flights are never on time.
Strengths: Southwest provides frequent flights at reasonable prices.
Needs to improve: The flights are never on time. Regardless of the situation. You can always count on your southwest flight to be delayed.
